In somewhat interesting news, Matt Gordon left Porter Moser and is joining Roger Powell's staff at Valpo. He's been tied at the hip with Porter for a very long time. Wonder if there was a falling out. I think he was basically the 2nd or 3rd in charge at OU so going to Valpo as an assistant seems like a step down.
Possibly.... makes you wonder considering the misery down there. "Don't leave from happiness," said former coach.

Gordon is a local. Went to St. Rita. Many connections to the region. Valpo closer to home. I'm thinking this was why.

So will there be a hire from outside for the top assistant, or is everyone on staff getting a promotion?
If the Will Bailey rumors are true, he would likely be that guy. That would be a very good outside hire, IMHO

Interesting movements all around for those with Rambler connections. Custer returns to our staff, while, in maybe the biggest surprise, Matt Gordon leaves Oklahoma to join Pat Baldwin on Roger Powell’s new Valpo staff. And, to complete the 6 Degrees of Ramblers merry-go-round, Armon Gates reunites with Porter on the Oklahoma staff.

Looks like there were a lot of transfer portal guys from Oklahoma..do not know how to interpret that or what it means in terms of the direction of their program and two guys leaving the staff....dont know if it is a sinking ship scenario or a we need better guys raising the sails..?

On the Gordon / Custer front, both are promotions for each of them to the assistant level of the staff (at least, I believe that’s the case).

Great gets for both LU and Valpo. I would doubt Gates would come over to OU if the ship was sinking…but PM has a lotta heat on him and I would also suspect he gave his blessing to both Custer and Flash.

I expect a real Bailey announcement later today. Also - a real winner will be back in Rogers Park. Pumped to have Keith
