Last night, #2 USC lost 3-2 at #6 Hawaii, leaving the Ramblers the only undefeated team in men's volleyball. The Ramblers have a 34-match winning streak dating back to early January 2014.
Loyola finished last year at 29-1, losing only to USC. The last team to go undefeated for a full season was UCLA in 1984, winning the championship with a 38-0 record.
Going undefeated is a nearly impossible task, especially with the increased competitiveness of the MIVA this season. #3 Lewis is 8-1 with wins at Stanford and at UC Irvine. #10 IPFW is 7-2, with wins over Penn State, Harvard, and CSUN. #12 Ohio State is 6-2, and #13 Ball State is 7-1 with their only loss to #15 Harvard.
Ramblers Only Remaining Undefeated
Re: Ramblers Only Remaining Undefeated
Do you think Kniffin will still vote someone else as #1?
For anyone who doesn't know, the head coach at UC-Irvine, David Kniffin, has repeatedly voted for other schools as the #1 team in most of the weekly coaches polls going back to last year. For the last several weeks, Loyola has received 269 of 270 possible votes.

Ha ha, vuster! I was going to say he'll probably vote for Hawaii now, but I decided not to be too snarky.
Hawaii has got another meeting with USC tonight on the islands, I think-- they're starting to have a lot of two-game series in the MPSF (two home this year, two away next year, especially with BYU and Hawaii) to cut down on travel costs and time. If Hawaii wins again, I wouldn't be surprised to see him vote Hawaii over us, because I think UCI has already faced Hawaii three times this year.

New poll out. Loyola gets all but one 1st place vote; BYU at 9-3 gets the other.

How do you find out who cast the dissenting vote? I'm assuming it's our friend from Irvine, but can't figure out how to confirm it.

Go here: http://www.avca.org/divisions/men/1-2-coaches-top-15/ and scroll down in the left column to "Poll Ballots." It's an Excel file. But here's a hint to save you some trouble-- it was indeed our friend from Irvine.swellafelon wrote:New poll out. Loyola gets all but one 1st place vote; BYU at 9-3 gets the other.
