YUCK ! Rahm advises Chgo taxpayers that a new Arena--$300,000,000.00 --will be built for DPU--100 mill taxpayer dollars. I like our way better--PRIVATE funds all. I understand. Now the Demons look to be beholden to Chgo Govt. Sheesh ! Looks to me like a sell-out !!!

Now DePaul can have their 500 fans show up to a $300 million arena.

Seriously, though, I believe $100 million will come from the State, $100 million will come from TIF funds and $100 million is from naming rights. Doesn't matter. The students still won't go to the games there.

It will be interesting to hear what the mayor plans to do with the arena on the other 340+ non-game days. More convention space? Another theater? A concert venue? Isn't there already the Arie Crown, the Pavillion, the UC, and all the theaters in the theater district all within five miles?

Well, it certainly can ease the congestion problems caused by the circus. Is it possible that the circus moves to this new arena thereby eliminating the circus trip?

Even crazier than $100 million from the state is expecting a $100 million naming rights deal, that's a lot considering Illinois only received $60 million for 30 years from State Farm.

Yeah, and I don't understand how a 10-12,000 seat arena costs $300 million. SLU built a similarly sized arena for $80 million.
