Standings Thought

What happens if SIU beats UNI today?
They'd then have the tiebreaker over UNI after beating them 2/2 times.
UNI has the NET advantage over us, but we have the NET advantage over SIU...
So who is the 1 seed if it stays that way all the way through the end of the year?

Here is the Conference Tie Breaker System:

For a three way tie, it goes to a mini round robin among the three teams, then NET if necessary. I'll let you plug in the numbers.

If SIU wins today, and then UNI/SIU/Loyola all win their final 2 games, SIU would have the 1 seed, we would have the 2 and UNI would have the 3 based on round robin:

1. SIU 3-1
2. Loyola 2-2
3. UNI 1-3

Now that would be crazy.

I wouldn’t mind that scenario for two reasons:

(1) I’m half Saluki, and always root for a Loyola/SIU matchup; and

(2) It would absolutely make heads explode for a lot of other teams seeing us back up there in a “rebuild” year, along with SIU in that position after only one year of Mullins and crew rebuilding.

If that were to happen I think that would be the best scenario for us overall. 1) we get a third (share) of a conference championship, 2) UNI gets knocked down to 3 and their road to the championship is much harder.

But winning at Bradley is going to be extremely difficult and we can’t overlook Drake.

The story will be UNI’s regular season meltdown.

UNI has got this. Their team is built to absorb turnovers and their offense is too good.

Wow. SIU looked great and then ... just nothing on offense. 18-0 run by UNI and they are still going.

A win Tuesday assures of at least a 2 seed, I believe.

Would like to see Missouri State work its way up to the 5 seed and on the other side of the bracket. Or if it is a 6 seed, then a Friday night matchup vs Bradley which will be super physical.

Worst case is Missouri State falling to the 7 seed and then beating Evansville Thurs setting up a Friday night game against us in the 7/2 match.

You have to wonder if Porter was making Mullins look a lot better than he is. I don't see SIU ever getting back to the tournament. ;)
