Conference Awards

Post by ahunte1 »

Milton Doyle earned first team all-conference. Ingram is on the third team, and Jackson is on the all-Newcomers team.

Congrats Milt! Well deserved!!
Edit: Meant to put congrats to Donte and Aundre as well, obviously. Guess I messed up when submitting earlier.

Congratulations all around. Milt being named to a post-season team for the first time since his freshman year is great, and making the first team is fantastic. There are only two seniors on the first team, which is interesting.

I think Donte deserved the second team by the numbers (one of only four players in the top 10 in both points and rebounds, tops in three point shooting percentage). Is the 3rd team an occasional thing, or a new thing? It's all juniors, whereas the 2nd team is all seniors but one junior.

Aundre Jackson was quite a find, and if he takes a step forward next year, he'll be recognized on a first or second team, I think.

I also think (hope) Ben Richardson makes the defensive team next year. And if we get one of the freshman big men on the all newcomer team, we should finally pass that elusive .500 mark in conference.

I think I read that they did away with Honorable Mention and added a Third Team instead.

Yeaaaaaaaaaaaah!! Congrats all around. Surprised Jackson didn't make third team over someone like Brenton Scott. But maybe that would take him out of the running for sixth man of the year? I don't know how these things work.

Congratulations to all three Ramblers! Very well deserved recognition for each of them. I was curious what the reaction to Milton being chosen first team would be on the MVC forum. As usual, there was "no
love" for Mr. Doyle or Loyola. I was very glad to see that a number of our more knowledgeable posters attempted to explain the choice using statistics and logic. It was a nice change from what I usually read there.

Congrats to the Ramblers on the accolades! The talent looks real in Chicago next year! I know many at WSU really want to see Loyola take that next step and become a legit threat in the league.
