Sometimes GREAT players do not make great coaches. I watched a person who was a 4 letter winner (only did Track when Regionals came around) never last more tan a year in 3 different sports as a high school coach. She had no tolerance for anyone who could not work as hard or achieve at the same level she had been.
So whose hire was this? Dr. Kelly or Callhoun? and what is to be done? If I understand Coach Swoops has at least 3 years left and the contract was a nice one. Also to be fair is there another side to this story?

It's sad, there where issues last year and everyone ignored it. Now its year three and you have 10 players leaving. Two all conference players at that. This will most likely end ugly. there is a 5 year contract. This was year 3. There are two more years left on this current contract. This year and next. The players have made several attempts to speak up

Well, this is a real body-blow to the women's program. They were very good this year and looked to be ready to move toward the top of the league with a couple of seniors next season. I was thinking that Swoopes was getting better with x's and o's and the team was clicking after the DePaul game... They were winning some games in crunch time, and holding small leads pretty well-- an indication that her in-game coaching was improving. To hear that it's mostly off the court issues--- I don't know if that makes it more or less disappointing, but still very unfortunate.

By the way, that's some pretty impressive reporting and good writing by Phoenix writers Madeline Kenney and Nader Issa. It's a nicely balanced article on a difficult subject.

Totally agree. They did a great job with that story.
