Brad Newman, Jr. and Clayton Custer
We have expressed interest in the 6' guard originally from Milwaukee, currently at Eastern Arizona. No offer yet. Would have 3 years of eligibility. He's run the point out there. Averaging 13.2 ppg, 3.2 rpg, 3.2 apg. Shooting 43.6% from the field, 35.7 from 3. 80% free throw shooter.
Interesting note: Eastern Arizona is known as the Gila Monsters.

The numbers he has are alright and we need a point guard. I assume we will end up offering. The Gila Monsters is an amazing mascot one of my favorites for sure.

Brandon Woods on the 05-06 and 06-07 teams came from Eastern Arizona.

I am keeping my eye on Jonny Vasser from NU. NU has one really good point guard in Bryan McIntosh and another coming in in Jordan Ash from St. Joes in Westchester. I think this leaves Johnny Vasser as the odd man out. He is super quick, excellent on ball defense, and can get to the rim. He reminds me of the the Brunson kid from Stevenson. We will see if he stays.

Along the same lines as Nate, I am keeping an eye on Clayton Custer, a freshman point guard on Iowa State who was a 4 star recruit on the same high school team as Ben Richardson.
Custer has only appeared in 8 games for Iowa State, and is buried behind a talented soph. pg. Hoping he might consider transferring to a mid major for more playing time, and it would make sense that he might want to be reunited with his hs running mate.

Re: Brad Newman, Jr.
I watched some video of Newman, and he looks pretty good. Nice jump shot and quick.
He played on the same high school team as guard Riley LaChance, a 4 star recruit who signed with Vanderbilt and is having a good freshman year.
Newman is skinny, and might have taken a year on the junior college circuit to develop physically. Didn't have many offers coming out of high school, but he might be a late bloomer who was overshadowed by LaChance.

I would question the judgement of anyone named Custer.

Saw on Channel 5 that Iowa State's coach Fred Hoiberg is being touted by some smart guys as a replacement for the Bull's Tom Thibideau next year.
If this happens, maybe Clayton Custer will follow Hoiberg to Chicago and join the Ramblers. I did read that Hoiberg was the reason Custer chose Iowa State.
Hey, a transfer rumor's got to start somewhere, right?
