Loyola Chicago Ramblers 6-21 (2-12) at Saint Joseph’s Hawks 16-10 (8-5) – 11:00AM CST, Hagan Arena, Philadelphia, PA

Good morning, we have matinee basketball today. The Ramblers conclude this week’s road trip at Saint Joseph’s.

On Wednesday night at Fordham, Loyola came back from 19 points down in the first half and made it a game in the second half, able to get within 1. Fordham held on for the 62-59 victory. Xavier Amos led the Ramblers with 19 points, and Miles Rubin had 14 on 7-8 shot attempts.

Last time the Ramblers and Saint Joe’s played on January 28th, the Hawks obliterated the Ramblers on their home floor, 85-64.

Saint Joseph’s has won 8 of its last 11 games. Currently the Hawks are 16-10 overall and 8-5 in A-10 play, tied for 4th with Dayton and Duquesne in the standings. Saint Joseph's dropped two of its last three contests with losses at Mason and home with Fordham, rebounding with a 71-65 win at St. Bonaventure earlier this week.

At Hagan Arena the Hawks are 10-3 this season.

The Hawks are averaging 73.5 points on 42.4 percent shooting and allowing 71.2 points on 41.2 percent shooting. Deuce Jones is averaging 15.8 points and 4.3 rebounds, while Jaiden Glover-Toscano is averaging 15.4 points and 4.5 rebounds. He's currently on a seven-game double-figure scoring streak and has 19 total games with 10 or more points. Derek Simpson is the third double-digit scorer and Dasear Haskins is grabbing 6.3 rebounds.

SJU is one of the top rebounding teams in the A-10, ranking third with 39.15 rebounds per game. Currently, the team ranks second in defensive rebounds per game (26.88) and third in offensive rebounds per game (12.27).

The Haws should win this one easily. St. Joseph’s is surging and has covered 8 of its last 10 games and is looking like a potential sleeper team who'll cause chaos and upsets for the A10 tournament.

Saint Joseph’s Probable Starters – 6-5 G Jaiden Glover, 6-3 G Derek Simpson, 6-2 G Deuce Jones, 6-10 F Justice Ajogbor, 6-4 G Austin Williford

Loyola Probable Starters - Rubin, Amos, TBD, Moore, Dotson

LAST 10 GAMES FOR BOTH SQUADS

Hawks: 7-3, averaging 70.3 points, 35.0 rebounds, 16.7 assists, 5.3 steals and 5.3 blocks per game while shooting 43.0% from the field. Their opponents have averaged 67.0 points per game.

Ramblers: 1-9, averaging 64.6 points, 31.2 rebounds, 14.0 assists, 4.2 steals and 3.0 blocks per game while shooting 41.5% from the field. Their opponents have averaged 78.2 points.

Anyone watching this? Have any of you noticed Loyola runs a play that while a player is dribbling, they fall, and the ball rolls out of bounds? This conference play cannot end fast enough.

@classlessisback....Yes, watching
We haven't been synchronized on offense all season.

Also, no lead time for Ramblers
0 for 10 on three ball attempts
9 first half TOs

We need some divine intervention

We came close but then lost by 14.
Dotson and Taverez 4 for 9 on threes so we didn't wash out there.
We actually showed some spark and got within 4 pts but that was as close as we got in the 2nd half.
IF we can play like we did in that little bit of resurgence we'll see some better basketball.
The pain remains.

We have seen this movie before. I think we didn't make a 3 in the entire 1st half. Once the game is out of reach, we start making 3s, the other team loses focus, and we cut the score down and lose by a smaller margin.

The old adage in baseball is "it's not what you hit, it's when you hit". These guys don't "hit" when it matters. The funny thing is the intro song before player intro at home games. The lyrics are how do you do under pressure. They need to scrap that ASAP. We have the answer to that question.
