Re: Transfer Portal Season 2023
Sharp would be a game changer if we somehow were able to get him. His stats last year were great, but I’m particularly impressed with how well he played against big competition against teams like Baylor and TCU. he would be a double figure guy we could count on.

He plays defense, too. He would be an awesome pickup. I'd be happy with Norris, Sharp, Edwards, Quinn, and Dawson as our backcourt. There's enough size there to play three of them at a time.

For those clamoring for size, Jitobih listed at 6’11, and between 290-300lbs.

Also Trey Lewis, who is a big guard as well.ahunte1 wrote:He plays defense, too. He would be an awesome pickup. I'd be happy with Norris, Sharp, Edwards, Quinn, and Dawson as our backcourt. There's enough size there to play three of them at a time.
The need for “size” and what “size” means depends on what type of style you want to play. A team full of guards and wings between 6’4 and 6’8, with maybe one athletic 6’10-7 footer, is what I almost picture being Drew’s ideal lineup. Which would help explain why Hutty always got limited playing time.

We are in the final five for Central Arkansas transfer, Camren Hunter. Other four are SLU, Arkansas, Mizzou & Butler...so stiff competition. Hunter is a 6'3 rising junior guard who put up 16.9 PPG, 5.0 RPG and 3.9 APG. Shot a pretty meh 31.1% from deep. Only put up 11 points on us!
Re: Transfer Portal Season 2023
As we see players start to name their final few schools they are considering, one thing is really standing out to me. Camren Hunter and Demarcus Sharp both have one thing in common: they’ve been to Gentile in their career. Camren played at Gentile this year, Demarcus played against Loyola twice (in COVID year so both were at MoSt) but traveled with the team the next year and didn’t play due to injury. Even looking back to last year, Sheldon played at Gentile as an opponent with Valpo. I think it’s a great sign that visiting players see Loyola and then strongly consider us as a transfer option, and I also think it shows the importance of bringing a full crowd every game.

Sharp follows his coach to Austin Peay, picking them over Mizzou and us. That coach must have some kind of connection with his players. They all followed him from Missouri State to Northwestern St. Then from Northwestern St to Austin Peay. Zero tourney appareances to show for it. Best of luck to him.
