75% from the FT line! Unfortunately, we only got 12 attempts vs. their 29.ahunte1 wrote:Hard to find a lot of positives out of this one.

Very true. If SJU shot 20%, they end with 62. If we shot 40%, we end up with 72.ahunte1 wrote:And when more than half of our shots were threes!RamblinTank22 wrote:Looking at the stats, it was pretty even, except for 3 point % (22% vs. 41%), and turnovers (19 vs. 15). It's tough to win with near 20 turnovers, especially against a team who is out shooting you from deep.
Just hoping this season isn't a repeat of last year's streaky shooting that is absent most of the year.

That's a big disparity in free throws, especially at a neutral site.
Could be a conspiracy...

At least Jackson played good. Looks like a solid player. Hopefully they start shooting better from 3 the next few games.

I wonder if that's Porter's strategy for this year-- to live and die by the 3-pointer and wait for next year for reinforcements in the frontcourt?
It makes sense given our lack of height. I think with this approach we can look for a .500 season, plus or minus a couple games. I just hope we get hot when it counts, at the conference tourney.
Next year we will have more offensive options with Marques Townes' ability to get to the basket and Krutwig's skill working down low and passing out of the post.
Plus Negron and Chastain to do their thing.

Does it get tiring waiting for "next year?"swellafelon wrote:I wonder if that's Porter's strategy for this year-- to live and die by the 3-pointer and wait for next year for reinforcements in the frontcourt?
On the bright side, Loyola is tied with Harvard for highest GSR! http://www.loyolaramblers.com/genrel/111516aaa.html

Maybe. I doubt he is thrilled with 27 attempts though. Add in 19 turnovers and... yeesh.swellafelon wrote:I wonder if that's Porter's strategy for this year-- to live and die by the 3-pointer and wait for next year for reinforcements in the frontcourt?

Hopefully that was Bruno's worst game. His offensive rating on Kenpom for the game was 8. I don't think I've ever seen that before.

Clayton Ben-Milton was 9-26 (3-13 3p) with 10 assists, 8 turnovers, 4 steals, and 17 rebounds in 90 minutes.ahunte1 wrote:This is a winnable game for us if Clayton Ben-Milton plays well.

Bruno's game was tough to watch today. Something wasn't right. Would have liked to see our guys attack the rim some more.
Also, they've called Clayton a junior several times. I suppose that means we can expect him to graduate after next season...?

I noticed that, too. And he is listed as a junior on our roster.Blers wrote:Also, they've called Clayton a junior several times. I suppose that means we can expect him to graduate after next season...?
