Watching the last defensive play on tape is going to be tough. Looked like LU started in man and dropped to zone when SIU isolated Jackson. They were in great position to make SIU take a tough shot. But when they watch film, they'll see that all 5 defenders had their hands down and opened up the passing lane from the top of the key (right after they'd made the same pass a possession or two before). That's the worst film to watch as a player - to be in good position, but make a preventable mistake.

Against the zone, there was some good ball movement and dribble penetration, but I didn't see one effective screen set the whole game. I don't care if O'leary was out - you have to be able to screen. If you're on the same page offensively, screening against a zone should be easier than against man to man.

Jackson is a player, no question about it. But you can't give a guy that averages 20+ free looks at the basket. Put him on his back and make him shoot free throws and think twice about driving at will all game.

63 is right about attendance, I'll take my share of the blame on that, watched on Comcast from my couch.

Wow. In the postgame, Porter said they hope O'Leary can play Saturday, but he didn't sound too confident.

One thing I noticed was that Loyola did a lot of switching on defense instead of fighting through screens. I'm sure this was by design, and my guess is that it was an adjustment by Moser to compensate for what he sees as the players' lack of lateral quickness on D.

It resulted in some mismatches, and Cody Johnson got burned once or twice for easy layups when he was slow in switching back on his man when he rolled to the basket.
