I agree with the Coach that we were totally crushed on the boards and that is the reason for our 5 point loss to Tenn. Tech. When our shooting guard, Devon Turk is the top rebounder with 6 boards it is clear that we were shut out inside.

What I don't understand is the Coach's statement that we have to get more out of Jeremy King. When you play him only 1 minutes in the game, what kind of production are you looking for ?????

CJ had his 2nd of 3 games with major foul problems. Both he & King need minutes to adjust to the new rules and to get in any kind of rythme.

The good thing is that we didn't have any injuries tonight, in spite of the fact that Thomas & O'Leary put in big minutes against big guys (and the opponents won't get any smaller in MVC play).

O'Leary handled the ball well with 6 assists, but a center he isn't. Let him play his natural 3 or 4 position. I know Crisman is a smart player, but he lacked speed, scoring, rebounding, and ball handling skills, in his play tonight for 31 minutes. He is good off the bench, but not for 31 minutes.

I have hope tonight in the Coach's statement that we have to get more out of CJ & the Cobra. I really hope he means it and does it.

We are still undefeated in MVC play and we should be using our non-conference games to prepare for the MVC. White & Doyle are for real, as is Thomas, and there is talent in Turk and others that we can develope around them.

Go Ramblers!

Cody Johnson and Jeremy King need to play 15 minutes apiece in the game against Rockhurst. Hopefully, Nick Osborne will be back for the trip to Portland.

Loyola only had six players who played more 7 minutes or more, Tenn Tech had 11. It's impossible to sustain that.

Osborne, Pickett, Nixon, T. Williams, and the hole in the 13th scholarship being out, put us at 8 scholarship players available to play on the roster. Let’s make that 7, with King only playing 1 minute (although we should count London Dokubo). I hope that this is the last season we will have without filling all 13 scholarships.

I agree the starters are playing too many minutes, especially early in the year when we should be developing new talent. Although we shouldn’t rush injured players back, especially in non-conference play. But we need center play, and we have them, healthy & available.

Put Turk, CJ, & King in for more minutes and give the starters some rest so they will have some energy left for the final stretch at the end of the game.

One thing that I didn’t mention if that we should look for is a defensive shot blocker in the center to make life much easier on our whole defense. Tenn. Tech’s 3 big men made 15 of 19 inside shots and pulled down 21 rebounds in 60 minutes of play. Now is the time to develope a shot blocker. In 4 years, King could rank with the best of them (that is sweet 16, Andre Moore, since the time they started keeping that stat). Make our opponents work a little harder if they want to shot inside.

The loss is not a total disaster. We are a young team that lost a close game to a team with talent, which barely lost on the road to a good South Florida team. We were on the road against the team that gave us a real battle on our home court last year. And they have more of their scorers back.

Again, I hope that the Coach follow through on his plan to give our 2 new 6’10” centers some playing time.

Go Ramblers!
