Once again Ricketts gets the knife out--He IS the boss not the GM--He saw a savings of close to two million--whats left of DeJesus contract-- David to Nats for--??????? Who knows ?? Marvelous ! Now then DeJesus is no great loss--who besides the starting pitchers and the two catchers are ?? That includes Castro and the flop of the year RIZZO--Padres knew something. Rizzo does do one thing well for sure--ground outs to the right side of infield.
This is the most putrid offensive team I can remember-Of wait ! They are offensive to the max !!
A major market major league team ???? NOT !!
Ricketts' cheap side is showing big time !!
I think the Cubs (and White Sox to a lesser extent) are back on the right path. Bloated contracts for aging stars are not the way to sustainable competitiveness. Development of young talent and depth at the minor league level lead to consistent winning. Look no further than St. Louis who let one of the greatest right-handed hitters of all-time walk, reinvested the money in pitching and replaced his bat with capable youngsters.
