The first time I saw it I was mildly irritated, but by the third time I became downright pissed off. This is feminism and political correctness run amok, and it's time for guys to stand up and say enough of this "campus rape culture" slander.
Who decided that this piece of propaganda was an appropriate video to show at halftime of a basketball game to a captive audience of Rambler fans, most of whom are of an age when they'd rather take a nap than engage in coitus? If you want to air a Public Service Announcement at halftime, why choose one that demonizes at least half of the crowd? And what is the factual basis for supposing that sexual assault is such a pervasive problem at Loyola that it demands a PSA campaign at basketball games, where it reaches only a tiny fraction of its intended audience?
I have been following the Rolling Stone controversy recently, where an article in that periodical about a coed at the University of Virginia who claimed she was gang raped at a fraternity has been shown to be a hoax. In so doing, I have come across some feminist screeds that are stunning in the misandry, arguing that there should be a presumption of guilt against any man who is accused of sexual assault by a "survivor", and that the fact that the Rolling Stone article was a hoax is of no import to the larger truth that all men are pigs. This might be why I am particularly sensitive about this subject now.
Interim A.D. Susan Malisch, who I assume is behind this, should pull this video immediately, if for no other reason than it may violate the Title IX prohibition against creating a hostile environment for males.
