Here's a pretty extensive A10 preview, with 5-7 paragraphs on each team, from Fansided/Busting Brackets. I think the author uses a pretty good methodology to rank a league that has a lot of parity, six coaches in their first year with their teams, and a whole new team added to the mix.

Hey John,
There is mention in the article of the "Wednesday night pillow fight" and a double bye. Can you explain the A10 tournament format?

Here's a link to last year's A10 men's basketball tournament bracket: https://atlantic10.com/sports/2022/8/10/MBB23.aspx

The bottom four seeds each played each other on Wednesday night for a chance to play the 5th and 6th seeds. The top FOUR teams got byes in the first two rounds and faced the teams that advanced from the Thursday night games where the 5-10 seeds began play.

However, with the introduction of a 15th team, the bracket will change. They might have three games on Wednesday instead of two, or the last place team might not qualify. We'll have to wait and see how they handle the bracket. But basically, the first night is an even worse Thursday night at Arch Madness.

Wow! Kind of a hybrid format: MVC x HL.

Haha. That's great.

The Wednesday Night Pillow Fight is nothing you should worry about for a few years!

That's where Fordham, LaSalle and Duquense try to make the top 12 of the bracket.

It would appear the A-10 Tournament format for a 15 member league has been decided upon. As expected, the bottom six teams seeded 10-15 will play three games in a first day play in round.

The top 4 teams need 3 wins to the automatic bid.

Teams 5 thru 9 need 4 wins to the automatic bid.

Teams 10 thru 15 need 5 wins to the automatic bid.

Lets make sure we finish in the top 4.

Go Ramblers!

I don’t care for the A10 Conference Tournament format and timing. I know the later your tournament finishes the more prestigious people think it is, but I don’t like it. The off day in the middle on a Friday? Finishing late on Selection Sunday? Hate it.

I think one reason the MVC has seemingly always wore a game or two in the March is because Arch Madness finishes early and teams get some rest heading into the dance!

The A10 is a potential meat grinder of an event. It should look into starting earlier and finishing earlier so all its teams can get rest and ready. This could be one reason why the Big 10 flops every year as their tourney is usually the last tournament to finish.
