Years ago, on the old Ramblermania.com, we used to follow the mid-summer dramatic reveal of the College Sports Madness 144. I think we might have been especially fixated on it in 2006-07--- I may be wrong, but we were into it, expecting the team to be ranked in the Top 100. I can't remember how it ended up, but we were around 105 or something. Since then, we haven't discussed the CSM144 much. In fact, despite being ranked #130 in 2015-16, I don't think anyone mentioned it at all on the "new" Ramblermania.net.

This year the College Sports Madness Top 144 is out again, and they're already up to #114 Tennessee. Illinois State (#142), Northern Iowa (#134) and Missouri State (#120) have been covered already, and another MVC team (NOT Wichita State) will be listed among the top 113 teams that are revealed with a lengthy preview each day from now through November.

The odds are, the top MVC team is going to be Loyola. The odds are we won't be in the top 100-- I think we'll be somewhere around 100-110 if Missouri State is 120.

And here's the thing that's most important-- we need to live up to our high ranking.

I don't think I'd heard of this until I saw the thread on the other board. Nice to get some publicity. Unless it's Valpo that's coming up and not us

It would be a gross miscarriage of justice if we don't make the Top 144!

Was feeling pretty good, excited other people were thinking we're the lead of the conference. Then I read this and my heart sank and I just thought "Of ****ing course this will happen". Really hoping you're wrong, regardless looking forward to reading the reveal

This preview and countdown used to be on a site called collegehoopsnet.com, and moved over to College Sports Madness in 2009. There are no records of their previews before 2009, but I found Loyola's preview from the 2006-07 season (we were projected at #88 that year) copied and pasted onto the Wright State site.

I vaguely remember keeping an eye on that countdown back then. Oh the expectations and hopes for that team...
