Recruiting Class of 2019
Re: Recruiting Class of 2019
Go has the starting 5 see too. I think we will get improvement from Cooper, Frank and Asher. Plus three freshman who played together. Add Tate and Christian and we go deep. Lots of shooters who also have versatility as well.

We have quite a few guys who can hit in that 37+% range from 3:
Clemons
Hall
Williamson
Kaifes
Wojcik
Welch
Pipkins

You missed Kennedy who hit 40%. Not as sure about Welch.
I will not be shocked if Kennedy does not win a starting spot.

I’m so pumped for next season, we’re stacked!

Don’t forget about Bruno. His experience and another year of improvement will be valuable, he could even start.

Re: Recruiting Class of 2019
I have been trying to forget Bruno for 3 years.
One of the teams worst FG, 3pt, & FT shooters.
.360, .257, & .571; a guard with a 1/1 assist/turnover ratio.
I want to close my eyes when he comes in for the 4 guard set, while Negron, the team's best rebounder per minute, is sitting on the bench & we are getting killed on the boards.
I hope Bruno graduates with honors and has a happy successful life and helps the team in practice next year.

Re: Recruiting Class of 2019
I think the fact that Porter signed two JCs instead of one JC and one grad transfer shows he is "all in" all right, but more for 2020-21 then next year.
What I mean is Porter didn't seem to care about creating an even more imbalanced roster (7 players in the graduating class of 2021) or leaving himself with only one schollie for next year.
This suggests to me he is setting his sights on being really good in two years' time. If it works out and the Ramblers make a deep run in the NCAAs, I think Porter will be more likely to leave for greener pastures rather than face a complete roster rebuild at Loyola.

I think this is a very fair concern. However the team will still have (barring any transfers) an extremely legit starting 5 of Kennedy/Wojcik/Kaifes/Welch/Agunnage (3 juniors and 2 seniors by that point) for the 2021-2022 season. Also always chance of a redshirt, or injury, that changes that balance of the classes.swellafelon wrote:I think the fact that Porter signed two JCs instead of one JC and one grad transfer shows he is "all in" all right, but more for 2020-21 then next year.

Porter's recuriting classes have been getting better and better, plus throw in a few transfers/JUCOs (that he's had great luck with) and I think we'd be just fine. Make the tournament (not a guarantee), maybe go on a little run (really not a guarantee), and the quality of all those players are going to be higher as well.
I also think it will be really important for Loyola to either be sure to groom Valentine to be "the guy" if Porter does test the waters again, or hire someone that would be the heir apparent if that time comes.

I was thinking after watching Wojcik ,,,that they may give him a redshirt year to beef up a little bit.?
