We closed out the game by hitting only one of our last nine field goal attempts after we cut it to 12 points. Skokna with a missed front of a one-and-one. But most of all, Loyola shot threes like we were UWM, and vice versa.
All we can do now is hope that UWM dominates the HL, and if they play like they did today, it might happen.

Yeah, the three Bruno missed from the corner down by 11 was really the end for us. Would have been an 8 point game with four minutes left. Instead he missed, they made, and we were down 14 again. Tough day.

10-2 with a win over Florida. Bad ending, but a great start to the season nontheless.
Gotta get heads right and get our guards back.

After the last few weeks, it was easy to forget we’re playing without 2 of our starting, and most experienced guards. As someone stated earlier in the thread, they were missed today.

Yea, but this was typical Loyola. Huge let down.
I expected one loss in this stretch including UNI but I didn't expect it to be this one.

10-2 with a weak non con schedule. Yes Florida was a big win but all other games we should have won. I still see this team finishing 1-3 in the Valley. An at large was out of the question when the non conschefule was released. See ISU from last year regarding an at large.

Was at the game. Really good showing from Loyola fans. Really disappointing showing from the team. But with our Ben and Clayton, this was bound to happen. Also would note Negron was with crutches. And Shanks was in street clothes. Not sure why for either.

“Typical Loyola” is 5-7 right now.

This.
We were never going to go undefeated the rest of the season, we’re gonna drop some more games. If we want student culture and fandom to grow we can’t keep just saying “same old Ramblers” when we lose because it’s not. We haven’t figured out how to be perfect but we’re closer now than we have been in years. We’re riddled with injuries, 8 scholarship players right now; including half our seniors.
The finals schedule can be seen as an excuse but I think you’re crazy if you think it doesn’t have a real impact when our practices leading up to the game are done with split attention and Milwaukee doesn’t have to worry about them until next week.
It’s hard to demand attention and coverage when things go well but some of the fan base turtles and calls it “same old” after one loss. Chin up, more games to play.

I'm sorry but that's completely misinterpreting what I said.
Typical Loyola is losing a game (typically in an embarrassing fashion) that we should have won. We can make all the excuses we want on this board, but it absolutely is typical Loyola.
Think back to an interview coach gave last week when he said that, if there was a let down, it was on him. It's his job to make sure there wasn't a let down...to not fall into "typical Loyola" mode. Defend it however you want, but today was a failure. And it's going to hurt if we lose in the next couple of games in terms of people coming to the games (and obviously, it's going to kill any chances we have to make it to the dance).
At this point, after this loss, we just lost our shot at an at large. Reality says we are going to lose several games in conference. The only way we're dancing is to win the tournament in STL.
Yes, this team absolutely has made strides at improving the program, but this was a typical Loyola loss...and it is hugely disappointing.
