5) Krut is not coming back.
Valentine was the main point of contact and recruiting for several recruits, including TY Johnson. TY's mother really likes the school and is always wearing LU gear! My hope is that Valentine has built up a good relationship with the kids we have been recruiting and will be able to keep them whether they are class of 2021 or 2022. I also noticed that after PM was out the door, we have continued to offer kids. I wonder if PM and Valentine maybe had a differing of opinion on some of these kids and now that Valentine is in charge he is going after kids that PM would not.
I'm sure it's the case that Valentine is offering kids that Porter had a different opinion on.

Also apparently talking to Brian Waddell out of Carmel, Indiana. 6’7 small forward, skinny seems like a late bloomer. Just got a Purdue offer, his dad played there so we’ll see.
Between him and Saint Thomas, seems like Drew wants some more rangy wing/multi positional types

I've seen TY Johnson play in person twice. Once against Leo and another time against Montini. He was a legitimate game changer on the high school level. Moved well without the ball. Can dribble. Super fast and hard to defend. AND he had a very pretty, mechanically sound shot. He was playing in Kleinschmidt's system which runs a ton of screens to get players open shots and emphasizes constant pressure. I'm not super skilled at evaluating high school players but, when I saw him, I thought it was likely that he would be a collegiate scholarship player. Having him commit to Loyola was a nice surprise. My instinct tells me that he will fit in well with the system and just may be better developed than the typical freshman. I'm concerned that his phone lit up when Porter left the ship and he might be considering other offers including possibly DePaul (where his coach played) or Okie U (where the NCAA's most in-demand coach decamped to). My one downside recollection is that he might be a little small for the P5 and that may scare off some last minute recruiters. All that said, it would be great to hear from him soon. From what I've seen, he would be a good fit for Loyola and feels like a true, local recruiting win.

Alston Mason, who we offered recently, just followed Emanuel Dildy on Twitter. Dildy was just hired by Porter to be an assistant at OU.
Porter is indeed poaching. Alston Mason committed to Oklahoma, per Verbal Commits.
Edit: Apologies to 9599. Didn't see his post about Mason committing.

Not sure I think of Mason's situation as poaching, we only offered the kid like a week ago.
I do wish we had some more clarity on the assistant coaches though. It does seem like Matt Gordon and Clayton are headed to Norman, and it'd be nice to move on ourselves vs. this prolonged will they wont they nonsense.

Per VerbalCommits, Oklahoma offered, or at least started showing interests, a few weeks ago. OU was added to his page on 3/7.
