Maybe Keith/Lucas coming back?
We're so deep at guard, I was really hoping that he was going to stay but he wasn't getting much playing time with Norris and Kennedy in front of him.
How deep are we really at guard, though?

Granted, I don't know a lot about the new guys, but for returners don't we really only have Norris, Kennedy, and Pax? Ty Johnson is clearly a guard, too. That's only four?
Damezi is listed as a forward but he's going to be playing on the perimeter and probably guarding 2-4.

Really wouldn’t mind Keith coming back to keep some shooting. He only had two seasons of D1 ball, and one of them a covid year. Could see him running it back. Agree, guard depth is interesting this off-season.

Let’s not forget Damezi as well, two years in the Big Ten and a year on our bench should be experience. Supposedly can shoot and handle the ball, if he can D up he seems pretty bought in to the culture on social media. Intrigued by him if the seniors all leave

One interesting thing to think about with the grad transfers, these two are super unique in the fact that they committed so early and didn’t have their own season. Potentially means they would have a lot more time to study the system and talk to coaches (NCAA permitting), albeit virtually. Will be interesting to see if they pick it up quicker, most grad transfers in a typical year wouldn’t be getting recruited until now.

Ryan Schweiger, grad transfer from Princeton is a 6-7 guard, I believe. Demezi Anderson also seems to be more of a wing position than traditional forward. If the roster has the transfers and Anderson, it might have a lot more of a large guard/wing depth to it than just strictly “small” guards...which isn’t necessarily a bad thing.

Yeah but we've never really hit on grad transfers before. that's not a market Porter has done a lot with, I'm assuming because they don't get any time to learn the system. I intended Upperclassmen as people who have played in a Loyola jersey for at least two years.
I’m not sure the previous grad transfers we had arrived with the same pedigree that these two have, though. These seem like guys brought in to play right way (assuming health).

Assuming all seniors leave and no more transfers (obviously unlikely), I'd expect the lineup to be:

Norris / Kennedy / Ryan Schweiger (or Damezi) / Chris Knight / Hutson

Then Pax, Ty Johnson, Ben Schwieger backing up the guards (thinking we need another small guard transfer or recruit)

Ryan Schweiger or Damezi backing up the other

Welch backing up Knight

Frank backing up Hutson

Looking at that, I really hope we have a senior or two come back....

I was wondering about Keith coming back, too. Just given the different situations, it seems a little more likely that someone who only got two years would stick around.

That's a good MVC team depending on how Hutson develops defensively. Damezi is a 6'7" former all-time leading scorer at his high school in the state of Indiana question mark. Dude seems like a huge x factor.

Quite honestly, if I was any of the Seniors, the thought of returning for a victory lap, with fans in the stands, a good shot to make another tournament, and starting the year with a trip to the Bahamas would be pretty damn tempting.

Wouldn’t be shocked if Knight started at the “5” or played significant time there either. I really like Hutson, will just see where he’s at. Bet it’s a competition between Hutty, Knight, and Frank.

I might be wrong but Knight plays more like a big than an Uguak/Ingram forward if I remember .
Porter likes the 4 out, and maybe he’s adding it to his game but Knight is a career 20% shooter at Dartmouth. Albeit just 44 attempts in three years, 43 of those coming his sophomore and junior years

I know these things take time, but I wish Porter would make up his mind. If he does go, LU will need to get a Coach and try to keep their players from transferring AND potential recruits on board. The longer this takes, more at risk our basketball program is to falling apart. If it falls apart, then Porter's legacy will be that he did not build anything sustainable and maybe it was a fluke.
