So Magpayo seems like a weird choice,,,born on the West Coast...coming from a West Coast school. attended a West Coast School .but he does have some East Coast connections.....4 years at Columbia and a couple at Campbell as an assistant. Just seems like an advantage of being an East Coast school is all the basketball crazy areas near NY....so surprised when they did not get someone with local connections.

this was on A10 talk awhile ago
Mike Magpayo: Another name that came up in that same ESPN article, Magpayo has won 20+ games two of the last three seasons, and made an NIT appearance this year. Magpayo also has a great track record of player development and seems to understand schemes well. With how recent that article came about, it’s hard for me to imagine Magpayo flying up to the top of the board that quickly.

There is some faint speculation and rumors about Coach Valentine being a candidate at Maryland -- has anyone heard anything about this? Don't want to take away from this team and tonight, of course

Interesting because I am not and was never nervous about Maryland hiring DV. However, I hear Chris Collins at Northwestern is a really strong candidate there. Our GM foe Tony Skinn’s name is mentioned too. I think the biggest hurdle with Collins is all the bad blood from the great Duke/Maryland rivalry back in the 90s and early 2000s (but now I’m dating myself). If Collins were to leave Northwestern, then I think the possibility of DV leaving increases immensely

Maryland might be a stretch this year, but if we make the tourney next year I think Drew will have a few really good options to jump to. It feels like LUC pays pretty well so, like with Porter, not a sure thing he bolts unless it there is a really good job available.

Hope that doesn't happen, but if it does Dwyer is probably the next in line I imagine, although the possibility of Porter 2.0 is always lurking if the timing lines up.

Seen a burner account rumor also, but there's nothing out there with much seriousness. Extremely unlikely to happen, and we should be confident he wouldn't leave the stability and excellence of here for an AD-less dumpsterfire of Maryland. If that were to happen, I'd be shocked.

Whoever is influencing Maryland right now is making it known they want someone who'd be a MD lifer and with ties to the school. They screwed themselves by leaving ACC for Big Ten.
