As a student on campus I have noticed that the school has been advertising and promoting the basketball team alot more than they had been doing last year. There have been more on campus events such as Porter and others handing out hot dogs by Norville, there is a pep rally before the game today I am glad there are these events which were not really seen last year. I have seen more posters and signs around campus about the upcoming season which I feel is a start. It hasn't been a huge change but I am getting the feeling that basketball is starting to become more important around campus.

I guess we have different dictionaries.

You don't have to agree about who has knowledge. That would be subjective. But if you can't see that setting up a shot to have a sign visible the entire time...and then zooming in on the sign...is a gotcha moment. Well...I've got nothing for you.

"Gotcha Journalism" does not represent what was shown on KWCH. They didn't mislead the interviewee, nor were they trying to highlight a contradictory answer. Additionally, there were no manipulations of quotes or image or footage. There was no benefit to be made for KWCH in filming LuC students who knew little of the basketball program. It showed a very tiny sample of students that didn't seem to know much about the Luc basketball program while they were standing in front of Gentile Arena. Both of our interpretations of the clip are subjective. However, as I pointed out, what is objective will be the attendance figures. So let's wait for those to come in before you discredit KWCH for highlighting what I believe is a somewhat concerning lack of interest or knowledge in the LuC basketball program.

Why does that interest me? Because your school is taking the place of a program that brought the 2nd highest level of prestige to the conference. All MVC schools have a high degree of interest in your success which means sold out crowds, tapping into the Chicagoland media, and raising your program to a level that it regularly completes for conference championships and bringing more money to the MVC. We don't need anymore UEs or Drakes. We need more than that. I think LuC can provide it.

I'm looking forward to visiting. Sounds like a tough place to play.

The clear indication will be your attendance figures. If you don't sell out at least half of your home MVC game this season, it will indicate that KWCH was fairly accurate in their reporting. Your gym is not that large, though it does seem to be a great home court advantage. Thus, it shouldn't be difficult at all to sell out only 1/2 of the games in a 4,000+ gym. I'm certainly looking forward to attending the Shocker vs LuC game at your gym. Looks like it could be a great atmosphere.

Good LuC...

Wrong. Even the biggest of basketball fans may find themselves occupied on a game night. We're not competing with the state fair here. On any given night, Loyola has to compete with the Bulls, the Hawks and the Bears. That doesn't even include the vibrant bar/music/restaurant scene here. Add to that fact that there is ALWAYS something going on in Chicago and you have a recipe for under-attended games.

Now, put aside those facts for a second and consider that Loyola has always drawn well for the big games (MSU, KSU, Butler). Hell. Even most of the UIC games drew well. Now, the MVC is a step up in class from the Horizon. Bradley/SIU/Drake/etc will draw better than YSU/CSU/WSU/etc.

Attendance is directly proportionate to the product on the floor (both LU and opponent). When you factor in the competition in the City, you get a better idea of the challenge. So, I contend that not selling out is not an indication that "KWCH was fairly accurate in their reporting." Furthermore, KWCH, while trying to be funny, pulled a real dick move in my opinion. If WGN sent Pat Tomasulo to Wichita to make you all look foolish with gotcha reporting, you'd be saying the same thing.

You would be hard pressed to find students at WSU that don't have a decent understanding of what's going on here and the basketball program. I don't care how many other things there are to do, your gym is small and the fact that you're already making excuses for poor attendance tells me that I think deep down you believe that the report is fairly accurate but don't want to admit it. Hell, when we sucked ass in the 90s we still averaged over 6k and the MVC wasn't viewed as highly as it has been recently then.

Please stop digging.
What was a "real dick move" was Nick IN CHICAGO embarrassing those poor students that knew nothing of the Ramblers, basketball program, or the gym in which they were standing while giving an interview. I feel badly for those guys! As far as competing for entertainment dollars, Chicagoland is about 10x the size of the Wichita metro area, yet your school which is about the same size of WSU can't sell out 1/2 of the games in a 4,000 seat gym because the students and Alums would rather watch the Bulls and Hawks on TV??? Or go to a bar and dinner during the game??? Gracious man, it's ChicagoLand! A lot of people live there. Let's hope you can do better than that. You need to take the KWCH interview as a true barometer if AT LEAST 1/2 of the games are not sold out in the MVC.
By the way.... I know who Butler is, but who is MSU and KSU? Additionally, are you telling me Drake will draw better than Wichita State??? Not a good sign.

1/2 is the goal "GoRamblers", otherwise you need to strap on a sandwich board and start marketing the games around campus.

I think I have higher faith in LuC than you do...
