I agree, I miss the tight defense that we used to play. I loved watching Ben Richardson play D.
This is like watching a bad jazz band. If you are going to play jazz there are at least subconscious rules that make the chaos make some sort of sense. It just seems that if you are going to bring in a ton of new band members you should have a scripted score for them to follow as opposed+ to figure it out as we go....and who knows we may...Our pattern has been to start poorly, survive a couple of early injuries and then gel as the season goes on.
I am concerned as someone has mentioned that there does not appear to be any leadership on the team. Miles and some of the walk-ons are the only ones with ANY resemblance of time served...and if you have met Miles, who is a great kid, his personality does not seem to be compatible with leading. My other thought is that we just do not have any beef on this team and we get pushed around on the boards...dont see a solution to this..other than a very disciplined defense that allows us to be in position to rebound...which goes hand in hand with an offense that allows the team to get back into position defensively...
So my goal have changed......that there will be no turmoil and the team sticks together( I can always root for a team that hustles and is likeable)....and a wild card, I would like to see Caleb Reese get more PT....
Last thought is that Drew has had enough sample size to know what he has, who is doing what, who has recovered from injuries sufficiently...to put the best 5 out there and if we cant turn it around play the young kids and get ready for next year.

I also miss the emphasis on defense. It's a lot easier to pull for a mediocre team that takes pride in its defense than a mediocre team that is doing whatever it is we're doing on that end. I'm not sure you can say there is a "culture" anymore if gutsy defensive efforts are not a cornerstone of this team.

That being said (on the defensive side of the ledger) could you ever imagine a PM coached team giving up a Hundo spot like OU did last night?? Different world these days.
