I'm glad that Saint is in a much better place, and I hope that Drew learned a lot.

Interesting change in emphasis of the article compared to others. Earlier articles had focused on Saint Thomas's recognition of his mental health issues and his rehabilitation. They did not point the finger at Coach Valentine, his mother or his trainer. I am not sure what to make of the comments in the article. On their own, they don't look good. However, in my opinion, it looks like Coach Valentine, Saint Thomas's mother and his trainer were on the same page. He had a therapist, too. As he admitted, Saint Thomas was self-medicating and was not in a good place while at Loyola. It appears that both his mom, his trainer and Coach Valentine perceived his actions as a motivation problem and not a mental health issue. It would explain why he did not live with his mother or talk to her for a few months. I am not sure that we could have done better at that time, but that is the unfortunate issue with mental health problems. Credit to Saint Thomas to figuring it out.

Coaches would call out his work ethic in practice, hoping to motivate him, and he would stare back at them, shrugging with both palms up. Multiple times he was kicked out of the gym for talking back. Thinking back on his younger self, Thomas recognizes he was often in the wrong.
“I always had something to say back,” he says.
And then the VCU game happened. The bench incident. LA Times writer should have included this part.....
Refusal to check in..... talking back to the coaches..... Him telling Amorrow basically to F off. That was the end.
This story confirmed a lot of what we observed and thought could be going on throughout that year. Really unfortunate it did not work out for both parties.

Hutson and Schwieger helped UNI give Bradley a spanking which I enjoy....Schwieger had two of those baseline stuffs/ UNI is well coached.

Ben is putting together a very nice year for UNI. The fact that he went from playing a lot to none the next year was always baffling to me. Interesting as well that UNI lists him as 6'8". If he has grown and with his wingspan and athleticism he would have helped us and he is still only a Jr.

Our two friends at UNI have been fun to watch. Past few games they've even looked like they could be the top team of the MVC if they keep it up (15-9, 9-4). Pretty dominant W at home against Bradley over the weekend and caught them last night with a tough road win at MizzouST.
Hutty had a strong game last night with 20. Also had other recent games with 12, 19, 16. He's looked dominant and unstoppable at times.
We should all be fans of UNI this next month.

UNI got upset last night by Valpo. Neither of our guys did very well, with Hutson and Schwieger only 4 points apiece. I am guessing their last game of the year. Interesting that Valpo has two Schwiegers on their team. Also if you saw Ben Schwieger this year on the t and v seems like he shed a bunch of weight and was quicker.

Didn't know whether to start up a new thread for our 2025-26 transfer class or continue here.....
Jayden Dawson's first game with Kansas last night. 5 points in garbage time, and in a 40pt blowout, playing behind a deep guard rotation and behind possibly the best freshman in the USA. Melvin Council Jr (Formerly of St. Bonaventure) is ahead of Dawson on the Kansas depth chart - did not see that coming.
What could have been here.....
Jalen Quinn scored 20 to help Drake defeat Northern Arizona 77-71 on Monday. Quinn shot 7 of 14 from the field and went 5 for 7 from the line for the Bulldogs. Playing 34 minutes, and was the best player on the floor. Quinn is going to do so well with Drake and playing in the MVC and how can you not love that?!?

Seifeldin Hendawy played 16 minutes for Winthrop in their 7am opener vs Queens yesterday. Played the most minutes of any non-starter. Scored 5 on 1-4 shooting and grabbed 3 boards. Interested to see how he progresses given the hype around him when he committed...

I think Jayden is coming off an injury (what's new). I saw where he was iffy for their version of a an opening scrimmage earlier. Will have to see if he is buried or not healthy.
