Keep an eye on Carson Shanks from North Dakota. 7 foot grad transfer, Mullins recently followed him on twitter.

He put up decent numbers last season but fouls a lot so he only averaged 12 mpg last season. Killed UNI with 17 points and 8 boards in 17 minutes. Would be a great body to have.

He also followed back along with most of the team, Porter, the MBB page, and the school page. Verbal Commits has him as a verbal commit to Utah St, but in his twitter bio it says "Loyola-Chicago Rambler Basketball Player" I think he might be a "silent commit"

Another great find by Blers!

Interesting. A grad transfer or international player might make a lot of sense for these spots.

First seven footer in history? Wow!

Getting pretty excited about next years core. Our depth is really good if even 3 out of the 5 newcomers pan out. I could see him playing 10-15mpg... about what Kirby contributed, maybe a bit more if he stays out of foul trouble. The difference is Shanks has a more polished offensive game and can go up and dunk it when open. Also looks like a good locker room guy to have, great to take some pressure off Krutwig in his freshmen season. Also gives him a good body to practice against as well.

One scholarship left!

"Will be the program's first 7 footer to appear in a game."----well, that's a pretty good way to address the team's lack of size!

"averaged 2.2 rebounds per game"----oh.

Looking at his game log the low numbers are due to foul trouble. Against Southern Utah he somehow fouled out in 10 minutes... ouch

Still this late in the cycle it's a solid add; immediate eligibility, and you know what you're getting. I'm just glad we have a big who can do this when open under the basket:

A comparison of last year's performance on a per minute basis of LU's rebounders:

Kirby 9.1 r/40m 7.1 p/40 .458 fg% 289m

Jackson 7.0 23.6 .669 765m

Shanks 7.0 16.8 .542 391m

Ingram 6.8 16.7 .529 945m

It is interesting how shanks & Ingrams stats track.
