After a great start, we let them get right back into it. Our red hot shooting cooled off and we started committing some bad fouls on D (some of them pretty dang questionable).
We need this win.

Good first half, bad run to close it. Let's ride what's working and gut out a second half win.

Why in the hell did they stop running the Offense? Last 5-6 minutes of the game all one on one and forced shots. This is why I get down on Drew - control the team for gawd sake.

We are committing way too many fouls. So sloppy. They'll be in the bonus halfway through the half, maybe earlier.
Lead down to 1. Pathetic.

At least a third of these fouls would not be called playing at home or a neutral court. That's just the way it is, and we need to figure out how to communicate with refs about what's going on on the court, and be extra careful on the ticky-tack stuff that they're going to call if given the chance. The worst part is it tends to drag down confidence.

Yep. On one of Braden's fouls, Drew yelled out "THEY JUST DID THE EXACT SAME THING ON THEIR END." And he is right. And what was the deal when Miles had a perfect box out and the SLU player jumped over his back...and we got hit with a foul? Even the announcers said it was beyond fortunate for SLU (one of their only useful comments all game).JCT wrote:At least a third of these fouls would not be called playing at home or a neutral court. Ted Valentine always finds a way to make it about himself, worst ref in CBB.

First place in the A-10, baby.
Great defense.... great resilience... great game plan. And really, this St. Louis team is a .500 or better team in the A-10 with all their players available. We'll see them again at the Joe on Jan. 30th, when they'll have Sincere Parker back from injury.
I was on the borderline about going to STL for the game, but... (embarrassed to say) I thought my attendance would be a jinx. Also I wanted to see the Men's Volleyball match on ESPN + at midnight. There's nothing better than driving 5 hours to a road game and getting a win. Driving 5 hours TO a road game and 5 hours BACK from a road game after a loss is THE WORST.

ROAD DOGS!
Great to start off A10 play 1-0. Even better to have that win be an away win
And even better than that, against a solid program and fellow Jesuit.
End of 1st half and early 2nd half were dicey, to say the least. When SLU cut it to 1 and Drew absolute flipped on Mwamba and the guys' effort, we seemed to pick it up quite a bit. Maybe that worked!
Still too many foils for my liking (although some were bad calls). Really great play by Dame and Des. Fun win.
Couple winnable home games coming up. Defend the Joe!
