Not to get too off track with Valley expansion because we can save those threads for another day, but I don't think UIC was that high on Elgin's expansion list.
The overarching point was that the North Texas game should hopefully be more of a one-time thing, especially if we're signing a 4 year contract with UIC.
Also, you can NEVER convince me that Gregg Marshall had nothing to do with or did not talk Roosevelt Smart out of going to Loyola, if only to rob a conference competitor of a top 150 prospect.
I’m excited to see what North Texas looks like. These games i’ve been thrown together so quickly I wouldn’t be surprised if we go play them next year and we just got an iron everything out in time. I’m sure Porter has a lot of respect for them just by the mere fact that they are coming all the way up to Chicago on short notice.
North Texas has a message board and the general consensus over there is that they are very happy to get this game against us.
I just realized in the preview that it says North Texas uses a full court press. That concerns me for the first half of the game. Hopefully we can beat it early and make them drop back. This might be a game where we see Clemons and Norris out there at the same time.
The key to this game seems like it will be feeding Krutwig early. They have a solid defensive team, but I don’t think they have anybody to stop him.
Their games against decent D-1 teams indicate they cannot score in the mid 60s. As long as krutwig and one of our other starters have good games, and the bench does what it’s been doing, we shouldn’t have any problems.
If I were Welch, I'd demand to start over Hall and threaten to transfer midseason if I don't. Maybe I'm just a bad, selfish person or maybe I understand negotiating leverage.
