Bradley Preview and Game Thread -- 2/1/2020
Re: Bradley Preview and Game Thread -- 2/1/2020
I think we’ve doubled up our offensive rebound numbers for the year in this half!

Wasn't the prettiest win but it was a win. Hopefully it gets us back on the right track

A good bounce back win there. The sell out was a fun atmosphere.

Loudest I have heard Gentile this year. Very fun atmosphere. Uguak is a free throw maestro...I posted here a few months ago bashing his free throw shooting. I shall eat crow.
Decent amount of Bradley fans. Most were OK. Had some trouble with some clearly drunk ones after the game. Must have been young alums, mid 20s. Yelling in every Loyola fan's face "See you in March, mother f-er". Until an older Bradley fan yelled at them and told them to have respect and leave. Funny stuff.
Great win! On to the next.

Also, go over and read their board if you are looking for a nice laugh. They HATE us. And also every other post is crying about the refs. Love it. Absolutely love it. It is so strange having other teams despise us. Comes with the territory.

Our guys played well--We hit our freebees early, its a blowout
Krut took a ton of punishment but handled it like the star he is

Bradley fans on Twitter are also VERY salty
The thing I didn't get...I watched the whole game and didn't see any of these clothesline or punch-in-the-throat fouls that their board was bemoaning.
Goodness. I hope we weren't like that back in the Horizon days (hint: we were)

I went over to their board to see what their thoughts were and it truly was hilarious. Them complaining about fouls is laughable. They literally got an NCAA tournament birth last year because they drew refs against us that refused to call fouls against their team, and they complain when we played more physical than them tonight and dominated them in the paint? Bradley complaining about fouls made my night!
They also hate Porter, which is even funnier because you know they’d switch coaches with us in a heartbeat. Wardle completely embarrassed their school, nationally, and made our league look bad with his pettiness towards a respected beat writer in his own back yard. He somehow made the country actively root against an underdog against Michigan state and if any coach on the floor tonight is a clown, it’s him. Also - if you think Brian Wardle wouldn’t get the hell out of Peoria if he was offered ANY job in a major conference at ANY school, you’re an idiot. But, for the record, nobody is asking him to.
Our fans are reasonable and gracious, and it says a lot about your fans that you hate us so much. I’m sorry we came into “your” conference and won “your” tournament in 5 short years, when you had to sit around and lose in 1989, 1990, 1991, 1992, 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2018 before you could win it again. I suppose it was just 30 years of you guys getting screwed over by the refs. I’m also sorry that our gym is so small that it makes our final four and national championship banners look so big...
God knows we all had to endure a lot of mediocrity before our program became relevant again, and I’m not a huge fan of smack talk - but it’s warranted when you get a bunch of diehard idiots on a message board hating on a team that works hard, does things the right way, and just flat-out beats you. Northern Iowa beat us when we went on the road, but I think we can all agree they are a good team and should be respected. I’m willing to give Bradley fans the benefit of the doubt though... did anyone at the game have any good conversations with Bradley folks?

Wait, wait, wait....they’re complaining that the refs didn’t call enough fouls?
1) That’s laughable; but, more importantly
2) had the refs in St. Louis called even half of what they did tonight, we’d be working on our third straight NCAA appearance.
The lack of self awareness of Bradley fans is hilarious. But, they’ve absolutely hated us since we joined the MVC, so, whatever.
As for the actual game, and not the one played in fantasyland that Bradley fans were apparently watching: that may be the loudest, sustained noise I’ve ever heard in Gentile.
