Chastain is transferring to Illinois State. That makes this transfer a lot worse.

Really weird story. He's transferring as a walk on and will have to sit out this season. Will he also have to sit out next season with MVC transfer rules?
ISUr is super close to home for him, so it's not a huge shock, I'm just surprised he's walking on. If he's healthy it's a great add for ISU. Wish him the best.

Wow. Yes, he has to sit out again.
Not thrilled with this.

I am trying to read between the lines here...He did not end up someplace with a scholarship? his choice or did no one else offer? Willing to wait two years to play. Says to me that his injury was not coming along well enough for others to offer, Without basketball LU did not seem like a fit and or he was depressed over the situation and wanted to be close to home....As a walk-on it would seem that ISU sees him as a practice player. I also wonder if this was a medical situation where school and player disagreed...
Whatever reason Matt seemed like a great kid and I hope things work out for him.
We have had two players with knee injuries recently Jeff White and Tyson Smith. Neither seem to have been able to come back at full strength.
His friend Jake Baughman is still listed on the roster but then so is Maurice Kirby..

I don't think much "between the lines" reading is required. He wanted to be closer to home. His options were to play at a smaller school this year or sit out a year at a D1. He's not on scholarship because why would ISU burn a scholarship on a kid who a) can't play this year and b) can pay in-state tuition?

So is Milton Doyle... maybe he will be back, too.

I think he gets to skirt the rules because he's a walk on. He may not have to sit out at all since he technically had a red-shirt this year (though I think medical red-shirt rules don't qualify for immediate play).
At worst, he sits out one year.

ISU didn't give him a scholarship because they can't give him a scholarship. We apparently didn't grant him a waiver to transfer within the conference.
Also we need a Milton Doyle photoshop with a fake glasses/mustache disguise.

Good story here:
http://www.pantagraph.com/sports/colleg ... 9cbaa.htmlWhile on one hand it sucks that one of our players transferred in conference, I'm excited to see how he. He's had 3 major knee surgeries by age 19 so he was either gonna have to play at a lower level or walk on in a "prove it" type scenario. Our roster is pretty stacked next season in terms of depth, more than i can remember in recent years.
Realistically best case he would probably be the 10th or 11th man off the bench. Assuming Ingram plays the 4 and Townes starts: Jackson, Avery, Krutwig, and some combination of Satterwhite, Skokna, and Negron would likely get more minutes in the rotation.

I hope that a) we have a student section and b) they are somewhat less forgiving than you
