I will not accept them as a new member until Grace Calhoun goes to their arena and leads a "Crusaders - Valley" chant. Seems only fair
Re: Valpo to Valley
Missouri State's president tweeted that the MVC expansion committee will continue to meet. I don't know if that is standard practice or not. I'm hoping it means there is a group of presidents pushing for 12 members. I think that is necessary for the MVC to remain an elite mid-major conference. You can get creative with scheduling to boost RPIs of the top teams, and you can remove a couple of non-conference games that are hard to schedule and end up doing nothing for your RPI.
In the meantime, I'll start planning my road trip to Valpo when schedules come out in August.

A lot of things are floating around. This article says they plan to stick with 10. And from what I got in the article, 2 schools really wanted Murray St., and a majority wanted Valpo. Doesn't say which schools or whether they were public or private, but if a majority wanted Valpo to begin with, there were public schools that originally chose Valpo over Murray St so it wasn't just the privates holding out.

Gotta love the gushing for Valpo on the other board...something we were not afforded. Even the folks that are reluctantly conceding we're contenders this year are tempering it that by saying it's a result of how bad the league is.
Makes me want to run roughshod through this league all the more.

Well RAMBLERS and Crusaders !! Great --Like LUC Valpo adds a ton of CLASS to this bunch-- OK now the Valley should continue by adding CLE ST Wright St and UW Milwaukee==That will REALLY make a fine Conf !! For the moment though Its LUC and VALPO fighting for the top spot followed by the WHINERS !!

Yes. Me too.
I'll bet the same people who lamented our facilities somehow overlook the size and shabbiness of the ARC.

Even though my team isn't in the league anymore, I'd have to say I've been really surprised by your recruiting. You won't be the team holding the MVC back. Now if you can translate that into some post season success, then an increase in attendance.. That's the next step.
Valpo is a "best available" that fits the MVC and would want in. They won't be the push to turn the league into a consistent multi bid league though. That's up to the existing schools to improve
Re: Valpo to Valley
Honestly, Valpo is coming into the league with a much better program than what we had.
I suppose they value football too much, but Middle Tennessee would be a good addition to pair with Murray State. It would be a big move upward from Conf USA for them and would boost our conference RPI. Speaking of which, the obvious number one way to improve RPI is to recruit better players conference-wide. I assume everyone is working as hard as they can on that. Scheduling is a huge problem, but it's also a problem in similarly situated conferences. I don't understand why there aren't more arrangements like the MVC-Mountain West challenge.

Re: Valpo to Valley
Valpo seemed to drop off substantially last year after Alec Peters was injured. Obviously any team would suffer if their best player was injured, but they were very centered around him. A lot. They supposedly have good recruits coming in, but with the loss of Peters I don't see them being on the level they were the first part of last year.
