Alcorn State Preview and Game Thread -- 11/11/2016
Re: Alcorn State Preview and Game Thread -- 11/11/2016
Seems like some of the new players played a bit nervous to start out. Hopefully these next two games get them adjusted

There were definitely nerves there but a lot to be hopefully about. Some of that passing was extraordinary. It will only get better as they play together.
Shot selection was pretty good but just didn't fall for 30 min.
Biggest bummer? No more beer in the Joe!

Doyle, Ingram, Jackson, Richardson, and Custer are a pretty impressive group on the floor. Chastain looked a little nervous/tentative. Kirby looks a tiny bit better, but not enough to rely on against really good teams.
Noticed the newcomers tring to sneak some quick passes inside, not realizing it's a huge leap from high school to D1, even a SWAC team--- they will learn.
Yes, the free throws were terrible.
Nice to see Montel James at the game.

Well there goes one of my selling points to persuade my non-Loyola friends to come to games with me.GoRamblers wrote: Biggest bummer? No more beer in the Joe!

I think an argument could be made that denying men the opportunity to drink beer at Rambler home games is a violation of Title IX.

Beer will be back. The new vendor is getting a license.

Rough first half shooting, but some great ball movement throughout. The passes seem to have more purpose and zip than in previous years. A little bit of swagger in some of the no look passes as well. Some thoughts:
Clayton certainly adds a calming presence on offense and defense. I need to check his minutes but it seemed like he was it there a lot. Great passing he had several that I couldn't even see coming.
Milt looks great, and more importantly confident, vocal, and ready to be "the guy" when a spark is needed.
Aundre lives up to his billing, steady post presence who's gonna grind it out.
Donte put up some strong work on the boards, looked more comfortable down low.
Bruno didn't put up big numbers, but he looks pretty calm and collected out there. Some other newbies seemed to have some early jitters.
Happy to see Tyson out there. I had no idea he was fully cleared to play.
Make. Your. Free. Throws.
Overall one game against an opponent we should beat. Was concerned with the start, but when the guys turned it on, it stayed on, no late game push from Acorn. Put them down and kept them down. I'll take it!

Now that the dust has cleared--
--We are a tad bigger
--We have more depth--for sure
----Our depth made Alcorn literally run out of gas--This will show as we get into season.
--Milton played a "Jordan" type game--Go back in your memory banks.
First game is npw gone but we did better than FIVE of our Conf mates !!!!
