Very nice article from The Athletic on Coach Drew, a little bit about recruiting, and the birth of his daughter. Behind a paywall but, as I've shilled for them before, the content at the Athletic is very much worth the $5 a month.

The Athletic published another article (https://theathletic.com/2756085/2021/08 ... alignment/) in which is reorganized NCAA basketball conferences. We ended up in the "Catholic 10" with SLU, ND, Xavier, DePaul, Dayton, Butler, Marquette, BC and St. Joes. Putting aside the fact that people continually think Butler is a Catholic school, it is really cool to see us viewed on a national level alongside these schools. Years ago, we would have been grouped with a bunch of regional schools in an article like this.

No other MVC schools were even mentioned in the article.

Location: Livin in the middle, between the two extremes
That conference looks familiar. As if many of those schools were in the same conference years ago

The proof is in the pudding but in Vegas it is in the odds.

Odds to win the NCAA tourney

Gonzaga 700-1
Oklahoma 7500 -1
Loyola 10,000 -1

Here is where it gets interesting
Marquette 20,000
Bradley 250,000
Depaul 250,000
No Iowa 200,000
Northwestern 100,000
Buffalo 100,000
Dayton 50,000
Drake 30,000
Cincinnati 25,000
Notre Dame 20,000
Butler 15,000
Wichita St 15,000

This is per Caesar's Palace

Doesn't mean much of course, except the perception. It is a statement about how far Loyola has come.
Thanks to Porter who through sheer perserverance dragged us to the top and to Steve Watson for his steady hand in
guiding the athletic department
