Just wanted to write a note of appreciation for Loyola fall sports.

Today, the Women's Cross Country team won the MVC Championship by a wide margin. It's the THIRD STRAIGHT MVC Championship for Women's Cross Country. The men finished well, too, coming in third to tie their best-ever (I think) finish.

Tonight, the 1st place Women's Volleyball team came from behind in all three matches to nonetheless sweep Indiana State on the road. The Ramblers are now 10-1 in conference; Illinois State (the only league team to defeat Loyola this year) is in 2nd place with a 9-3 record, and the two teams will meet at the Joe on Nov. 13 (a couple hours after the men's basketball game against Florida Gulf Coast) for a crucial match that might decide the regular season conference championship.

The Women's Soccer team is simply astounding. Thursday night, they secured their FOURTH STRAIGHT REGULAR SEASON MVC CHAMPIONSHIP, which is a first for the conference. The LU women came into that last regular season game with a league-leading RPI of 62, and have won their last two matches by a combined score of 10-0.

The Men's Soccer team is really fun to watch. They lost a tough match in OT against the league-leading and 9th ranked Missouri State team in Springfield (their only loss in conference play), but the Ramblers have a chance to avenge the loss against MSU on Saturday, November 6 at 7pm. They've already secured a bye for the 1st round of the conference tournament, but a win over MSU would also bolster their potential seeding and at large potential for the NCAA tournament.

One of the signs of a great athletic department is that they're competitive in every sport. The Ramblers are not only competitive, but dominant in many conference sports. Kudos to the athletic department, the administration, and all the folks that put us on this path over the past 10 years. It's really amazing to compare where we are now to where we were then.

totally agree ...and the Mens Golf Team coming off an MVC Championship and NCAA appearance had a decent Fall and the women showed improvement. Across the Board Loyola non-basketball teams have been moving up the board. Curious to see how Track does in the Indoor season with a new coach.....
