I had a baby on my lap so I couldn't yell like I usually do.

It'd be one thing if we were just a bad team getting blown out. But we're better than that this year. I'm not sure what's going on but the last two games have been the polar opposite of how we played the first 10 games.

Haha! Baby's can join the yelling party!

Not gonna blame anyone who regularly attends, just the overall nonramblermaniac fans seem to be pretty quiet. Its more a contrast to other valley teams. I also could be totally wrong and sit in the wrong places free to disagree cuz it totally could be the case! Obviously there wasn't much to cheer about today, but I could just see some players looked dejected as Willis pumped up the crowd late in the second half on the run that became an avalanche.

As JCT and others have noted the program sufferered neglect over a long period of time. As a relatively younger fan, were there larger crowds in the 80's?

Also all teams have peaks and valleys. Let's hope our boys adjust and bounce back. Most of these guys are experiencing D1 conference ball for the first time still. There's a reality check for basically everyone but Milt, Donte, and Ben will need to face.

Also did it drive anyone else crazy to see Maurice finish at the basket late in the game?

He did have a nice move and finish late. And yes, it is frustrating to see flashes of that potential.

I just cannot understand Loyola's Athletic Department's lack of a strategy for putting butts in the seat when the students are not in school. I was at the Drake game last week and their cheerleaders were on the sidelines (appeared to be in reduced numbers, but they were there). The student band was not there but there was a five (or maybe 6) piece band of 50ish guys playing Johnny Cash. I saw a woman walking around the gym with a bulldog! And there was a half time dance routine of grammar school girls!

Today, the Ramblers had NO cheerleaders, NO LU Wolf, no band, no half time entertainment. No! No! No!

For a school with pathetic student attendance at the height of the season, this may not be something the Department wants to spend their energy and money on, but for long time fans and boosters, it is demoralizing and disheartening. The least I expect when I go to a game, is to say I enjoyed the competition, the team played hard, and the crowd was entertained!

Loyola is a world class university with talented students, faculty, staff and administration. Why not spend a few thousand dollars to hire someone with creativity to devise and execute a plan to at least put some people in the seats and cover for the spirit teams and band members who are away. Other schools do it. Loyola can too. JUST DO IT!

I was at todays game along with a friend. I knew that ISU would bring fans.
Let me establish that I am finding the negativity on previous posts understandable but rather
self serving. This was a very easy game to pick apart on the court, as well as off the court.
Whoever suggests our recruits should back out now.... Really? That's not even funny.
To me that stinks. Lets own up our own behavior first. We fans still expect to lose, and at the first sight of blood in the water we clam up.
Kinda like Cub fans until they finally made that last out, who didn't think they would fall short? I will admit that the Gentile shows so much potential to be an impossible place for a visiting team, BUT when no one is there, it is like a practice game for the visitors.
As to things I agree the program should be doing is being sure the Mascot and band and some cheerleaders are there. MANDATORY. This is a televised game and shows beyond the arena. I also see we have zero visibility in the city. Probably needs to be a part of the budget if we are sincere in being successful. Are we? I am a victim of the same at times. I am still reeling from the Drake game, giving up 100 points... Scoring 98 at Drake and half that today.... I guess the team has to perform and then fans will follow. SO, OK, FORGET TODAY AND LETS GET BACK TO PLAYING ONE GAME AT A TIME. Northern Iowa lost today to Evansville, and it looks like SIU will beat Drake as I write this. This conference is tough. I think we can be tough too, but have to stick together through thick and thin.
I have not missed watching game all season, ESPN 3, whatever. I think this team is as good as we have had, BUT the MVC is on to our game and we
need to figure it out. Cant just watch our guys go one on one or shoot a three that has no rebounding potential. The lack of height is huge, and how many easy rebounds, easy in the lane baskets, and wide open threes can you watch beforeas a fan you are beat up. Imagine how the players feel? I know they have heart and want to win. They need and deserve our support. The coach needs our support more than our second guessing everything. I am sure reviewing the last three games shows the issues we face. I know PM is on the same, but has to work with what we have. Don't forget Chastain is out, and Andres skipped town early. How do you deal with that. On the plus side, Satterwhite shows confidence and promise.
Happy New Year. This team will come out and play better on Wednesday. Be there and lets get louder. Go Ramblers.

Always breaks my heart ...the attendance and crowd....I think somethings are given.....long term apathy and time between concern for the program has not built a consistent fan base for the team.....it seems that all but a few big time programs struggle (my experience at Bradley last year was really pathetic).....people going to live events has changed( including students approach to athletics).....LU either because of financial situation or ineptitude have not med a successful attempt to get fans in the seats.
I think Porter has done what he can but his job is to coach the team,,,, and yes I think it effects team performance and recruiting. With the education we offer and its value and the beautiful campus we should not have to be depending on JC players and transfers to fill our squad. I wrote the graduating seniors last year and basically apologized...they deserved better in terms of support at the game.
Having said that maybe an idea would be to change seating arrangements and get what appears to be 3 seating sections all together as one to create a louder atmosphere. There is the group behind the bench, the people behind the press section and the student section. Why not put them all right behind the bench...(pt visitors in the corner).
Maybe we would be a little louder and at least give each other some support. Being at games where the other teams ans take over is so deflating making me not want to make the 140 mi round trip.

How many of them ended up at other D1 schools after leaving? I think only two?
