They still get to practice and in these pay to host tournaments they will know soon if not already.

Well, I'm a bit sad about the loss, but I sincerely enjoyed this season. Plenty of ups and downs, but overall, I would consider it a success. I'm really going to miss watching Thomas and Crisman play for the Ramblers.

If they don't get at least one more game, it'll be a travesty. This team deserves a post season bid.

I"m not disappointed in this loss particularly. I'm more disappointed that we don't get to watch this team play anymore... It has been a real fun season.... i'm genuinely disappointed that the season as over, as opposed to other years when i've just been GLAD that it's over. What an exciting year of Loyola basketball.... Congrats to the Ramblers on a hell of a season...

Whether we get put in a post-season tournament or not, I still consider this season a great success. I'm only hope that the guys can build on this next year and improve even more than we already have.

Would like to see Milton with the Larry Bird Trophy next year.

Proud of this team. UNI has one of the best defenses in the country and our shots just weren't falling. We greatly overachieved this year. Really looking forward to finding out if we land in the CIT or CBI. And then on to the future--a bright one!

The only thing that would dampen my mood a big is if UIC upsets UWGB in the Horizon semis and gets a shot at a tourney berth.

So we end at 19-13 (as of now), with the RPI (as of now) at 118. We won twice as many games in the conference regular season as last year. We went from 0-14 on the road last year to 7-6. We won a tournament. We avoided Thursday. We got to the semifinals of Arch Madness, and we got our first conference wins against SIU, Evansville, and InSU. The only league team we haven't beat at least once is Wichita State, who has been ranked every time we've played them. And we're in line for a C-tournament, which would break our 29-year streak without a postseason.

How many would have thought that at the beginning of the year? I know I didn't. I was one of the yahoos who thought that because of inexperience and lack of height that we'd be lucky to win 8 games total. I was still thinking that until the first few minutes of the game at UTSA, when I saw the defensive intensity and help defense, and thought, "Oh yeah, this kind of approach could win us a lot of games." That was the game where we broke a miserable road losing streak. And when the team bought into it and we also won the next game at Kent State, my entire mindset turned around.

Give the coach and his staff a lot of credit-- I don't think he planned on playing that way when he recruited a lot of the guys on the team, and it's really hard to get kids to buy into that approach. There wasn't much of that on display last year; he had to fundamentally change the way a lot of players had always approached the game, in a way that downplayed individual accomplishments, big offensive numbers, and one-on-one play.

So we'll see soon if or when we can extend the season a little longer, and get some more experience in playing for a championship. I just looked up Murray State's CIT announcement from last season, and it came on Wednesday, March 12, 2014-- three days after they failed to win the OVC tournament, and four days before the NCAA Selection Sunday. So we may know something as soon as the middle of next week.

What more can be said about this year's bunch ?? They had little height, had major injuries whereas our competitors as it turned out had few, freebie shooting a tad better than fair-- Despite all this , this bunch won and won and won--WHY ?? Lots of reasons--First and foremost, HEART ! Belief in a system that a good and maybe better than good COACH sold them on --they bought in totally. In the not so distant past . it was me me me--This year all you had to do is look at our biggest star among a ton of stars--MILTON !! He knew that he did not have to do it all--He looked to pass first and THEN shoot--Other way around last year, obviously because it had to be.
My hat is off to a fine Coach, a good team on the improve (This was to be next year--this bunch was having none of that) Am proud as anything of these guys and most proud to be a Rambler !!!

My hope is that we get a game or three more--maybe even one at home (* pay the two dollars, she said) This team deserves it ! My Pals deserve to see more.

One small note of caution--Loyola has been pretty much in this spot before--We have been passed over a lot --see my comment by old Big Al in 85 when we clinched in Tulsa-- BUT I do believe this time we shall be chosen and be practicing starting Monday or Tuesday--

GO ONWARD RAMBLERS !

Well just RAMBLED in from the trip to St.Louis. Great trip. Everyone should mark their schedules now and get down next year. Met lots of great LU people and saw many old friends. I think the high-lite was the look on the faces of the team as they came up the escalator to the pep rally full of Rambler fans. It certainly was a great feeling for fans and team. Besides lots of basketball I made it to the HIll for some Italian, the Art Museum(free on Fridays) the World Chess Hall of Fame and hung out at West Central doing some people watching.Might have had a beer or two as well.
As for bball,,,,great game Friday and I though we would have a good chance on Saturday but not to be. UNI just does not make many mistakes, they keep their composure and are so fundamentally sound.... key stat? Out-rebounded 28-17 without one offensive rebound. Shooting percentage and turnovers next. But we kept fight ing back just could not get a key shot to drop.
Ill State has lots of talent.

Hope we get a post season invite....How bout Northwestern vs LU ????

I would prefer a home game over a game @ NU

Them being forced to play in the Joe is the only way we'll ever get to host them.
