Ohio State did us a solid when they took down Lewis last Friday. Their senior Outside Hitter Michael Henchy had a career night and then some with 32 kills and a .756 percentage. An unholy .756 hitting percentage! Thank you, Henchy.
To clarify, that's not an uncommon percentage for a player. Middle hitters may go 7 of 10 or 8 of 10. If I were to compare volleyball stats to baseball, an outside hitter who hits .300 over a season is like a .300 hitter in baseball. A middle who hits .400 is comparable to a baseball average of .300. What Henchy did was go 4 for 5 in baseball terms. That fact that it was 32 kills with only 1 error on only 41 attempts is like hitting 3 or 4 home runs.
The next night against Loyola, Henchy went 6 kills, 4 errors, on 18 attempts for a .111 percentage. Hangover from the big win along with a refocused Loyola.
