We open as the #2 seed because of that tiebreaker.

One thing that I found interesting was the following fact:

Quote:
In three years under the direction of coach Missy Beseres, Loyola has been either the No. 1 or No. 2 seed in the Horizon League Championship.

Love that.

#6 YSU beat #3 Valpo today, so our first opponent will be YSU tomorrow at 1:30 p.m. at Flames Field. This will be the first meeting of the year between Loyola and YSU, as the three regular season games at YSU were postponed/cancelled by weather. #1 seed UIC will be playing #5 seed Wright State.

Here's the bracket:

http://s3.amazonaws.com/hln/sports/brac ... 1368044061

Going into the Spring sports season, Loyola led the McCafferty Trophy standings:

1. Loyola - 36
2. Milwaukee - 32
3. Cleveland State - 26
4. UIC - 24.5
5. Detroit - 23
6. Green Bay - 14
7. Youngstown State - 15.5
8. Valparaiso - 14
9. Wright State - 11

Since then, Loyola has won Women's Outdoor Track & Field, Milwaukee has won Men's Outdoor Track & Field, Cleveland State won Men's Tennis, UIC won women's tennis, Valpo won Men's Golf, and Detroit won Women's Golf. Milwaukee leads in the Baseball standings, so Loyola getting some points from Softball is crucial.

For Softball and other sports, there's a complicated point system that gives 60% of points to the regular season champ and 40% of the points to the conference tournament champ. I'm still not sure how points are awarded for Loyola sharing the regular season Softball championship, or whether UIC gets them all because of the tiebreaker giving them the #1 seed.

FYI, The series with Youngstown State was made up in April. Loyola won two of the three games.

We seem to be having some problems. Heading into the bottom of the 6th, we're down 0-2.

We lost 2-0. We will play Cleveland St. tonight in an elimination game (provided the weather holds out). Lucky for us, UIC lost too.

If we win that game, we play the winner of Valpo/UIC.

Game suspended in the top of the 5th. We're down 3-1. Play to resume tomorrow morning

"When the game resumes with one out in the top of the fifth inning, Cleveland State will have runners at first and second."

This blows! I really wanted us to get the McCafferty trophy as a parting gift from the HL.

According to Twitter: Ramblers lose 5-4.

We gave up a run and subsequently tied the game at 4 on a three-run homer. CSU then scored the go ahead run and the Ramblers left the bases loaded in the 6th. Went down 1-2-3 in the 7th to end the game.
