One of the two national men's college soccer rankings has Loyola at #15 in the country as of Monday, Sept. 12. TopDrawerSoccer.com has a ranking that's more uh, egalitarian than the coaches ranking. Here's the Top 25 according to TDS: http://www.topdrawersoccer.com/college- ... nkings/men The NCAA uses the National Soccer Coaches Association of America ranking, which tends to favor the big programs-- not always in larger conferences, but something like "the usual suspects." That's how their ranking still has Stanford ranked at #24 despite having zero wins, one loss, and three ties to start the season. I think their ranking comes out on Tuesdays, so look for it tomorrow here (click on NCAA Division I Men: Rankings. http://www.nscaa.com/web/Rankings/Colle ... KINGS.aspx Last week Loyola had the 35th most votes, so it might be a struggle to move up past other teams. The two convincing wins this past week, including a 2-0 win over then-#12 Utah Valley, and four straight shutout wins might be enough to vault past a few elite programs to crack the Top 25. |
