Incoming freshman Orion Yamat from Niles looks like he is going to qualify for the field of 64 match play at the US Junior Amatuer. http://www.usga.org/content/usga/home-p ... ateur.html This is a BIG deal. This is probably the top amateur tnmt in the world with an incredibly strong international field. Orion stands at 3oth with a couple of holes to play. This is the tournament that propelled Tiger to stardom.Congrats to Orion and Coach Stephens. NOw lets build him a golf course on the Lake! kidding but talking about facilities did you know that our long jumpers and triple jumpers practice on the beach on Campus! because they have no other facility? and our long jumper qualified for the NCAAs? |

Spoke to soon. After a weather delay Orion went 5 over on the last 4 holes and is now holding on to 61st place with several others. My guess is that now he will be in a playoff to make the match play field of 64. Still a good performance on the biggest stage for an incoming LUer. |

OK....I didnt jinx him. Orion makes the field of 64 by one shot and is currently 1up through 9 in his match play |
