When I heard that Princeton got an 8 seed despite going 30-0 in the regular season, I figured it was because they had a lousy schedule. But I looked it up, and they were royally ripped off.

Princeton had an RPI of 15, and an AP Ranking of 13 at selection time. They beat SEVEN top 100 RPI teams in the non-conference and two others in conference. They beat teams from the ACC, Big East, Big 10 and A-10; they 8 wins over 20-win teams, and they beat two teams in the NCAA field. They had an RPI 15-30 places better than all other 8 seeds, better than all but one 7 seed, better than all but one 6 seed, and better than all four 5 seeds.

Given their terrible seeding and Yale's NIT snub despite deserving a high NIT seeding, I wonder if they're being punished for being from the Ivy League-- with no conference tournament and a policy of no scholarship players. The RPI was clearly tossed out the window on their seeding. Now they have to face HOST Maryland in the second round of the tournament.
