Pretty sloppy game in general, but there were some moments where we were playing excellent basketball. Even though Jackson State is not a great team, I thought they played very hard.

Toward the end, I heard some in the student section chanting "one win season!" Ouch! I think Jackson State will pick up a few wins once they get into conference play.

Enjoy the win, ladies and gents. I'm sure Brot will be happy when he gets back from bridge club.

A win is a win, but what does this say about us? Jackson State is terrible and we couldn't pull away. A 12 point win against this team isnt enough. Also, 16 turnovers. Ugh.

We played well. Jackson State lost by 8 at St. Bonaventure and UAB. They lost by 13 at Louisiana Tech, who's 7-2 on the year. And we played Richardson, Peterson, and Ingram more minutes than they've seen in any game. Jackson State's previous low point total was 50 against UAB, and they were playing with a new transfer from Arkansas State who was just eligible, so I say nicely done.

This is where the lameness of the schedule begins to kick in. We began the day with an RPI of 64, and now it's 96-- despite a double-digit win. We'll dip down well below 100 even if we embarrass our next two opponents with two consecutive 50-point wins.

It wasn't the prettiest game, but I doubt Jackson State is in many pretty games. Their whole plan seems to be to muck things up, and they succeeded. Even in their warmup they were fouling each other like crazy. Really weird. They were all over Doyle, and it freed up Earl for 20 points.

Overall, a good win. One down, two to go.

Does anyone know why White only played for 14 minutes? I'll admit I'm getting a bit worried about him. I thought he'd be back in the starting lineup at this point in the season....

Secondly... what a great game from Peterson last night. A great confidence builder for him.... We'll need all the offensive threats we can get once league play starts, especially since Turk seems to have lost his 3PT magic.

This game marked the emergence of Ben Richardson as a contributor this season. He played over 20 minutes, and had a very good first half, but trailed off somewhat in the second. He didn't shoot well but showed the ability to create his own shot. His court vision and ability to space the floor on offense were notable. His man to man defense was very good. He might take some minutes away from Crisman and/or Keke.

Earl Peterson had by far his best game as a Rambler. The guy is money at the free throw line, and for that reason alone he might see a lot of time late in games where Loyola is protecting a lead.

One interesting observation, courtesy of roggirl, is that Jackson State's uniforms seemed to be designed to mimic the street fashion of "sagging" or "low riding", where jeans are worn well below the waist and your boxer shorts are on full display.

Yeah, their shorts were odd. And the jerseys they were wearing during warmups were incredibly tight-fitting.

I think (and also hope) you are right about Richardson. He looks good. I think he becomes a major contributor by year end goes on to have a standout LU career. One of the better recruits off the PM era.
