A few years ago 6-11 Matt Adler left the basketball team because of knee problems while running. Fortunately, Matt was able to transition to volleyball and finished his career at Loyola as a successful middle blocker. It is now time for Coach Davis to reciprocate. The 2014-15 volleyball squad will have eight players from 6-6 to 6-11. Do they need all that height? You can only play three on the front line at a time. I think at least two of these fine tall young men should spend a redshirt year on the basketball team. I think it would be just as much fun blocking shots in the MVC as in the MIVA.

Another benefit of this is that Loyola volleyball fans could get on the forums with those west coast volleyball snobs and say we beat you last year and this year we will take you on with one hand behind our back.

Redshirt? They should play right away! And help Porter change the culture by winning.

This raises an interesting question whether you can redshirt in your primary sport and use the year to play a different sport without using up a year's eligibility in your primary sport. I don't see why not, but I haven't researched it.

Shane, unlike Porter, was able to land a tall recruit from Benet Academy. Ricky Gevis is a 6'11" freshman outside hitter from Benet. His classmate, 6'9" Sean O'Mara, you may recall, chose Xavier over Loyola for basketball.

That guy is delicious but hardly over 15" tall.

I don't think you considered sufficiently how your statement might be grossly misconstrued.

I've found it to be generally unwise to say a guy's "delicious" while estimating his dimensions in inches.

I knew you would make a comment like that but, rather than edit, decided to leave it.

Jim, I rely on Swella to grab the low hanging fruit. Sometimes, that requires me to assist in the process.
