The SIU team got stranded on I-57 after the Illinois State game. Originally they thought that they would have to spend the night on the bus on the side of the highway. However they got a tow truck which got them to Tuscola(between Chambana and Charleston) where they spent the night in a church.
What was also interesting was that neither the head coach and two assistants were on the bus with the team, out recruiting.

Odd that they wouldn't have stayed in the hotel in Tuscola by the interstate, although it may have been full. I heard the coaches were about 20 miles ahead, and ended up stuck staying at a hotel in Mattoon. The 20 miles between Tuscola and Mattoon last night might as well have been 200. I live in Charleston and work in Mattoon (about 10 miles apart), and couldn't get to work this morning.

I bet Abe Lincoln, when he was riding the 8th Judicial District Circuit, would have somehow managed to get from Charleston to Mattoon in this weather.

No excuse, counsel!

Like BigJoe says, we've got to get tough!

Tuscola is the heart of Illinois amish country. Isn't this a plot from a Family Guy episode?

I hear they went out recruiting at the nearest local bar.

Tuscola is viewed by some to the south and west as a necessary evil to sell their stuff to tourists by the Interstate, but the groups living in the middle of Arthur, Sullivan, and Mattoon are an interesting bunch. Not too trusting of attorneys, unless you have a German-esque last name, and they can be tough to reach on their cell phones.
