Big morning in CBB news.

Lots of news out there regarding this one today. Fanboy Senators from MO and OH both petitioning Big East commissioner Val Ackerman to invite Dayton and SLU to the Big East.

There might be a paywall involved with link reading but was able to access both this am thru X.

The scary thing is….. anything can happen nowadays. This can become real too.

If it were to ever happen it would doom the Atlantic 10 Conference and ourselves. Two top programs would leave. Our two closest rivals would be gone. A10 needs to work with urgency to improve each of its programs profiles and cbb scheduling to help maximize wins and bids. This falls on current commissioner who hasn’t done anything about it, and that responsibility will fall on whoever is hired to be next A10 commissioner this summer.

Here is Dayton’s response to the proposal letter - https://x.com/davidpjablonski/status/20 ... 59640?s=61

I don't see the Big East expanding with these two teams. I don't think they are looking to expand. With that said, I think I could see them picking up St Louis, but I think they are covered in Ohio by Xavier.

Well, ask yourself why two sitting US Senators would be reaching out to the Big East? Don't they have more pressing things to do? Dayton and SLU can feign ignorance, but I would bet dollars to doughnuts that there was some communication between the schools and these two Senators before the letters got sent. These letters provide perfect cover for Dayton and SLU act like they are not initiating a potential move while putting it out there to the Big East and not pissing off the A10.

The Big East would help itself much more by spending its time getting rid of DePaul.

This has been in the works for a bit - Big East will take Dayton all day — they draw and Pitino is pushing for them.
A-10 will be vacant when this happens from a Midwest fans po8nt of view.

I always get intrigued when conference realignment talk comes about. Last night DP defeated Marquette at WIntrust...had almost 8000 fans...thinking a lot were Marquette fans looking for some kind of win to salvage what is looking like an LU equivalent season. DePaul is reveling in their current 3-4 Big East record. Have always felt that LU has been ignored when Conferences realign....gotta admit as long as we were in old ALumi Gym (which I loved and easily saw over 100games) we were not going to be in the discussion. Then the move to the VALLEY made us an attractive prom date again and we go A10. Great success in the Valley and decent success in A10. Now the specter of our two biggest rivals in the conference skipping out.I was way more active in attending away games frankly in the Horizon (yes bad basketball) and the Valley, traveling to at least 5 away games a year and was always an attendee at Arch Madness. (remiss to mention how cool that was to talk every year with Jerry Harkness rip.) Since we have joined the A10 I have managed one trip to St.Louis for a game. Also comparing atmospheres it seems that games against Valley teams were better...but tv revenue ranks over in fan attendance I am guessing and is the driver of a lot of decisions. But what happens to A10 tv $ in UD SLU leave?
So if UD and SLU leave , in what direction do we head? Have always thought a Midwest Catholic League would be great...r Marquette and DP ready to leave the Big East? Creighton? Is St.Thomas in Minnesota ready to move up (sure seems like they are trying) is John Carroll (recently invested 100 million to upgrade student experience including athletics) ready to step up to DI.. Detroit U...My thought would be to keep it small....leaving room for tournaments for exposure...
or do we stay in the A10 with Duquesne being the only remotely close school. or is there another conference that would want us that makes sense? I doubt the MVC would want us back...
My goal,,,,gym packed and rocking.
