Loyola Chicago 5-11 (1-2) at George Washington Revolutionaries 11-5 (2-1) – 2:00pm CST, Charles E. Smith Center, Washington DC

The banged up and shorthanded Ramblers hit the road to DC to take on GW today and George Mason mid-week.
The Ramblers lineup got decimated by injury on Wednesday night against Davidson, losing 79-64.

"We were shorthanded tonight, and I thought the guys who were available did a really good job from a mentality standpoint of still doing whatever they could to compete," said head coach Drew Valentine. "We ran out of gas in the second half. We stopped doing what allowed us to get in position in the first half, which was our defense and getting out in transition. But I commend our guys for going out there to compete."

George Washington enters today at 11-5 overall and 2-1 in A-10 play. The Revs picked up wins at Richmond and vs. La Salle before falling to Dayton by seven earlier this week. GW is 7-1 on its home court with the only loss to Delaware back in December. The Revs have one of the most best offenses in the country. Their effective field goal percentage (.573) ranks third in the conference and 30th in the NCAA, while their 86.7 points per game sits second in the league and 34th in the country.

The Colonials commit 18.7 fouls every game and they shoot 73.2% from the free throw line. They are dishing out assists 16.3 times per game (79th in the country) and they lose possession by turning the ball over 13.3 times per game. George Washington scores an impressive 86.7 points per game ranking 36th in the nation.

This year’s GW roster was built through portal shopping. Rafael Castro is GW's go-to scorer. He's averaging a team-leading 16.1 points per game for sixth best average in the A-10. He's shooting 67.2 percent from the field, which leads the A-10 and ranks fifth in the country. He's scored 10 or more points in 13 games this season, including a season-best 27 points at Richmond in the A-10 opener. Garrett Johnson is averaging 12.8 points and 4.7 rebounds. Tre Dinkins is the third double-digit scorer and Trey Autry is grabbing 3.1 rebounds.

Shocking Stats and Facts –

• George Washington ranks 28th among Division 1 teams for true shooting percentage this season (61.2%).
• George Washington ranks 30th among Division 1 teams for effective field goal percentage this season (57.3%).
• Loyola (IL) ranks 364th among Division 1 teams for steals per game this season (3.8).
• Loyola (IL) ranks 364th among Division 1 teams for opponent assist to turnover ratio this season (1.84).

Loyola Chicago has found wins here and there over the last month, but this is still a bad team that struggles to find consistent and reliable offense. George Washington has played its best ball by far at home and has moments where it can explode on the offensive side. If those shots are falling, no chance we keep pace to make it a respectably competitive game. Brace for the worst, hope for the best.

GW Probable Starters – 6-10 C Rafael Castro, 6-4 G Trey Autry, 6-2 G Christian Jones, 6-3 G Jean Aranguen, 6-7 G Bubu Benjamin

Loyola Probable Starters - Rubin, Houinsou, JOJ, Moore, Tavarez

LAST 10 GAMES FOR BOTH SQUADS

Revolutionaries: 6-4, averaging 84.3 points, 33.9 rebounds, 16.4 assists, 7.9 steals and 3.7 blocks per game while shooting 48.3% from the field. Their opponents have averaged 74.0 points per game.

Ramblers: 4-6, averaging 67.7 points, 32.6 rebounds, 12.5 assists, 3.5 steals and 3.3 blocks per game while shooting 42.8% from the field. Their opponents have averaged 72.8 points.

No Amos, no Richardson, no Dotson, no Love. Deywilk in a shooting funk. Not expecting to win, but would like to see some fight.

Well, maybe the takeaway from today's disaster is that we saw some of the players not usually playing. Maybe we'll be a bit more healthy for GM on Tuesday?

Nic Anderson looked good. I hope Love comes back soon so they can play as much as possible.

At least last year when half the team was injured they were in some ballgames and there was a will to win despite late game errors and final minute breakdowns. This year’s team doesn’t have any of that.

Mason game is going to be another tough watch.

Foot injury. I guess it's an injury that goes back to his Freshman year. He reaggravated it right before the game against Davidson.

It's not much of an excuse because we were bad before the injury bug really hit, but the situation right now is crazy.

If you looked at who we thought were likely top contributors...

Moore -- Out
Dotson -- Out
Harris -- gone
Love -- Out
Amos -- Out
Kymany -- In but always questionable

Your healthy guys are Miles, Tavarez who's been terrible, and JOJ not making much of an impact.

I think it's fair to say those were the top nine coming into the year. Maybe you add Richardson to make it ten and half of them are out.
