Massive stretch of games coming up as hit the final quarter of 2024-25 A-10 league play.

Tomorrow - @ Davidson
Friday 2/21 - Dayton
Wednesday 2/26 - George Washington
Saturday 3/1 - @ Saint Louis
Wednesday 3/5 - Davidson
Saturday 3/8 - @ UMASS

As it stands, we are alone in 4th place right now (7-5) and a half game back of Dayton.

I don't care to look at anyone who's behind us in the standings, or on our tails.

We have LOTS of momentum and are trending upward heading into this stretch.

AT Davidson tomorrow is a little worrisome. A game we cannot afford to lose. A win would tie us with Dayton (8-5) heading into Friday, further magnifying and heightening Friday night's national TV game. Then to our advantage Dayton is OFF all week. I remember when they came in to town on March 1st last year they were OFF a full week also, which may have helped us out. A loss @ Davidson would set us back I feel, and leave us at 1 full game behind Dayton as we'd head into Friday. We don't want to play Dayton so we can tie them or remain behind them. We need to play them to bury them and jump ahead of them in the standings. Therefore @ Davidson, I don't think we can afford another hiccup or screw-up on the road like we had @ Duquesne / Joes. No more road game bombs or excuses..... Must win @ Davidson.

Get to 8-5 first. Then sweep the week, and we could be at 9-5 and alone in third place heading into next week after all is said and done. Furthermore, Friday night's game could be viewed like the Third Place Championship (reg. season) if we want to look at it that way too..... and why not!

The rest of the calendar looks pretty winnable then. GW has taken a nosedive since mid January. That should be another home W (maybe by then we hit 10-5 if all goes our way). Next, March 1st @ SLU could be a win then too, because they are fatiguing and their starters have been run into the ground. We match up well with them and we've played well @ SLU too. Then after that, our last home game / senior day is March 5th. We absolutely don't lose Sheldon's / Des's last ever game here. And the final game of the year, if there is one to blow, is a 12:30pm (11:30am CST) tipoff at UMASS. This is UMASS's final ever A10 regular season game. Adding to the challenge, we stink in all daytime/ matinee away games this year.

At best, we need to go 5-1. (12-6 finish - third place)

At minimum, we realistically go 4-2. (11-7 finish - third or fourth still)

If this stretch is a total bomb, at worst 3-3. (10-8 - and likely fall out of top 4)

All things considered..... after losing Moore, after that horrid stretch of losing 7 games mid-year, playing point-guard-less all winter..... if we can hit third place (at maximum) we've done very very well for ourselves. Expectations mayyyy have been exceeded too.

Meaningful basketball in February.... Gotta love it !!!!

Cheers to the final 6 very important games.... Hopefully this ages well and not poorly
