Was looking at the medical redshirt rules. I believe it will be close, but J-Mo got hurt for season in game 9 of the season. If we end up playing 27 or more games this year, he will have played in less than 30% of our games, he will have been hurt for season and as long as they have documentation and he is not cleared to return this year, he should qualify for a medical red shirt year. This could be a nice upside to him getting injured, if you can say that, in that he could still have two years left and some continuity and stability at the PG position moving forward.

That's good news --unless I'm missing something, if 30% is the threshold then I don't see how he doesn't fall under it, since we have 30/31 games on the schedule (depending on if Eureka counts), plus at least one A10 tourney game.

Correct. We will play at least 32 games.

The NCAA rules state that there are 3 basic requirements to obtain a medical waiver (redshirt)
- a season ending injury
- cannot play beyond the midpoint of the season
- appeared in no more than 30% of scheduled games

"...athlete may qualify for a medical hardship waiver if they participate in 30% or fewer of their scheduled games in the regular season."
https://ncaaorg.s3.amazonaws.com/compli ... rPoint.pdf

The number of "scheduled games" is already known - it is 31.
So there really shouldn't be any question that if he is eligible for a medical hardship waiver unless he returns to play in more games.
