Our non-conference schedule is definitely concerning. We knew we had a strong roster this year, so I don't understand why we didn't schedule a single power conference team (or even any top mid-major teams). I know it's hard, but other A-10 and Mountain West teams seem to have no problem scheduling at least a few big conference teams each year. We will have to completely dominate this schedule to have any chance at an at-large bid.

I thought this concern may be a little overblown but Kenpom has our current SoS at a whopping... 346 out of 364

Scheduling is difficult. Some of the match-ups are agreed to well in advance of a season. Many of the P5 schools already have commitments. All you can do is keep trying. I am sure they are aware of the fact that they need a stronger non-con schedule. I am disappointed that the A10 does not have a conference challenge series with another conference. This would help not only the A10 schools individually, but the conference as whole if A10 teams can go out and win some games against another conference.

OMG!

I had to look and it may even be worse as I am seeing 355 ish numbers which puts us within 10 of the absolute bottom

And we still have a 74 kenpom overall score. Go figure.

Lastly, do we need 364 D1 teams? It just keeps growing.

I think what's helping Loyola is that it's been a dominating 7-0. The largest deficit of the season is SIX and it happened in the opener vs. Chicago State.

You're probably on to something there.

On a comparison thought, while both Loyola and Rhode Island are the undefeated A10's, I'm interested in seeing how they compare until one takes on their first loss. Right now our overall 74 beats their 87.

On the other hand, Nolan Net has our SOS as 152. Small samples everywhere this time of year.

Yeah, that is quite a difference. It just goes to show how different sites slice and dice the numbers.

Today’s impressive league wide results -

Dayton over Marquette
VCU over Colorado State
Bonnies over Providence

5 or 6 teams with 8-9-10 wins already. Lots of thoughts the A10 could be a 3 bid league. Maybe there is a 4th bid stealer. Never know…

Dayton with wins over Northwestern, UConn & Marquette. And really should have beat North Carolina & Iowa St. No doubt they are the team to beat in the A10 this year. Looking forward to seeing if we are up for the challenge.
