Thought it might be nice to keep track off the A-10 as we get ready for Conference play.
Last night Dayton defeated Northwestern. Apparently they pressed most of the 2nd half and that was the difference. Press breaking still concerns me for LU...A couple of old timers Key and Santos still controlling the show for Dayton.I think when you have two veteran ball handlers. When push comes to shove for the Ramblers who will have the ball in their hands?? No Norris so will it be Des Watson?

Dayton blew a 21 point lead to lose to North Carolina 92-90 losing the lead at the 1:13 mark.
The A-10 as a conference seems to be hanging in between 8 and 10 this site gives all the teams and has Loyola #1

Yeah, So 2 tough losses....great games and great experience for Dayton. There were a LOT of great Thanksgiving week tournament match-ups, featuring A10 teams, MVC teams, Mountain West teams and teams for lesser conferences. So.....where were we? We get a 10 day break between soft opponents at home while other teams are getting great experience and some exposure. Can't say that this doesn't bother me a little.

Our non-conference schedule is definitely concerning. We knew we had a strong roster this year, so I don't understand why we didn't schedule a single power conference team (or even any top mid-major teams). I know it's hard, but other A-10 and Mountain West teams seem to have no problem scheduling at least a few big conference teams each year. We will have to completely dominate this schedule to have any chance at an at-large bid.

Assuming they show up correctly, the Diamond Head Classic should give the boys a few cracks at opponents of significance. Perhaps even some P5 competition depending on the outcomes of other games and how the bracket breaks.

I think at-large is likely very difficult but our best option would be a significant (undefeated or one loss) non conference slate + a 2-3 loss A10 regular season.

It takes two to schedule. We do have a few top mid-majors. Princeton has fallen off but was the runaway Ivy favorite. SF is a tournament contender. The MTE will hopefully give us some more. The schedule is softer this year, but we unfortunately can’t expect to play big brand schools every year. That’s just mid-major basketball. Keep winning and it wont matter.

Really am curious to know how much the new wild west of the NCAA and its economic effects determine who we can get for the home schedule....and how it has effected everything overall. Everything is about the cash.

Not enough chatter on Rhode Island.

8-0 and have a #8 rated offense in the country.

Could be a legit team, as it looks like Archie Miller is getting his dudes. Impressive roster so far, that is producing.

We host them on January 15th.

Not sure URI is that good. Weak schedule and beat Detroit Mercy by only 6 points in a close game.
