It’s likely a win in “St. Louis”…scratch that “ a win in Brooklyn” year. No chance for an at large bid. The A10 at most will be a 2 bid League. Assuming the Ramblers can get close to .500 do you take a CBI or CIT bid? I say “yes”. In fact, that would be a successful year. For a young team a “C” tournament is perfect. It gives the players more practice and tournament experience. Those are costly tournaments however. And no…we are not past “C” tournaments. Programs go up and down and past success should not bar you from taking a bid to extend your season. Finally NIT at large bids are nearly impossible. Look at the 18-19 team fresh off a Final Four. That team received an 8 seed. So honestly a “C” tournament would be a good year.

I think if we get to 10 wins this year it will be a success. Some of the A-10 patsy teams of the past are posting more wins this year and we have some of the weaker teams on the road. And what a year to have added Clemson and Stanford to our schedule. Great teams and games for us to have..but will be tough to get Ws in those games.
Losing will be tough on a young squad with so much energy and that puts in so much effort. Hope keeps them focused on the strides that they make and that the fans continue to support them and acknowledge their improvements.

No. I think we, as a program, are past the C tournaments. They serve a purpose and that CBI run was a key moment for the program. But we are an NCAA/NIT or stay home team now. Winning another CBI or CIT does nothing for us.

I would say it is a year by year situational decision and the players should have input into making the decision. It is opportunity for continuing team and individual growth.

For what it's worth...

Teams from "major conferences" (defined by CollegeInsider.com as the Power Five conferences, Atlantic 10 Conference, American Athletic Conference, Big East Conference, Conference USA and Mountain West Conference) are generally ineligible for the CIT.

And the CBI has only had 4 A-10 teams participate in the last 10 years.

CBI
2022 - 0 A-10 Teams
2021 - 0 A-10 Teams
2019 - 0 A-10 Teams
2018 - 0 A-10 Teams
2017 - 2 A-10 Teams (George Mason and George Washington)
2016 - 1 A-10 Team (Duquesne)
2015 - 0 A-10 Teams
2014 - 0 A-10 Teams
2013 - 1 A-10 Team (Richmond)
2012 - 0 A-10 Teams

When we played in the CBI in 2015, we hadn't been in any postseason tournament in 30 years. We needed to do that. I think it helped us in 2018.

In 2019, a Big East, American Athletic, and Big 12 team were in the CBI. In 2018, San Francisco went to the CBI final (North Texas won that year). I think it helps teams that are making a resurgence to be in the CBI or CIT.

Hopefully, we're not in that category any more. If we have a few bad years and then get kinda good again, maybe.
